I am happy to share that we have successfully delivered the first presentation of our Introduction to Climate Change, Social Justice, and Sustainability module (Level 4, 20 Credits). This marks an exciting milestone in climate change education at The Bedford College Group! This standalone experimental module is a pioneering step in integrating climate education into our curriculum, and it has been inspiring to see both regular students and staff members engaging with this vital topic. On 12th December, they will attend a certificate presentation ceremony at the college. This collaborative work reflects the collective insights of our team and the remarkable contributions of our students and colleagues. We are almost at the end of our second phase of the co-creation initiative. This module presentation is part of our award-winning co-creation initiative, supported at different stages by the British Educational Research Association (BERA) BCF Curriculum Investigation Grant 2022-23, the Advance HE CBHE Innovative Practice Grant 2023-24, and the Skills and Education Group Foundation Action Research Grant 2023-24. Our mission has always been to place students at the heart of the learning process, involving them in every stage—from research-led curriculum design to innovative teaching, learning, and assessment practices. This co-creation journey highlights our commitment to fostering collaboration and innovation to address the global challenges of our time. It has been a testament to the power of education as a catalyst for meaningful change. By engaging students as co-creators alongside educators, we empower them to shape a brighter, more sustainable future. So far, we have produced five outputs from our co-creation initiatives. Our work has also been presented at four national and international conferences. We extend our wholehearted gratitude to our students and colleagues who participated in this initiative and to the SLT for their continued support. Let’s continue to collaborate, co-create, innovate and inspire as we strive for a more just and sustainable world. Together, we can make education a driving force for change! #ClimateChange #ClimateChangeEducation #SocialJustice #Sustainability #StudentEngagement #CoCreation #CBHE #Curriculum #Research #Innovation #LearningJourney #LearningMaterials #Teaching #Learning #Assessment

UVic continuing Studies: Depth Education Course This advanced course is for individuals who have completed "Facing Human Wrongs 2.0: Climate, Complexity, and Relational Accountability" and wish to learn about how to design depth education experiences in their professional contexts. Unlike mastery education, depth education does not predetermine what learners should think or do. Instead, it supports participants in navigating volatility, complexity, uncertainty, and ambiguity by expanding their capacity to hold space for a multiplicity of perspectives, paradoxical claims, and conflictual relationships without feeling overwhelmed or immobilized. At its heart, depth education fosters the development of contextual judgment while issuing a call for emotional sobriety, relational maturity, intellectual discernment, and intergenerational responsibility. Duration: Three weeks Format: Asynchronous weekly readings and invitations, with a synchronous seminar on Saturdays from 10 AM to 12 PM PDT. Dates: The course starts on July 28, with online seminars on August 3, 10 and 17 (10 am-12 pm PDT) Learning Objectives: Distinguish Between Mastery and Depth Education: Understand the differences between mastery-oriented and depth-oriented inputs, questions, evaluation and feedback. Design Depth Learning Experiences: Learn to create educational experiences using a depth education approach. Apply Regenerative Inquiry Principles: Implement principles of regenerative inquiry within professional contexts. Methodology: This course invites participants to consider learning designs that can support expanding the capacity of those they work with to practice: Contextual Judgment: Expanding the capacity to make decisions based on contextual flows and relationships rather than predetermined methods and outcomes. Emotional Sobriety: Cultivating the disposition to stay grounded and present in the face of complexity, difficulty and emotional challenges. Relational Maturity: Building responsible relationships that recognize and address systemic neglect, harm and complicity. Intellectual Discernment: Sharpening the ability to critically discern, evaluate and navigate complex information and perspectives. Intergenerational Responsibility: Tracing the historical imprints and the the long-term implications of actions and decisions, embracing the need to correct ancestral mistakes and considering obligations to future generations. Instructor: Vanessa Andreotti Registration opens on June 21. I will add the link as a comment when the registration page opens. Pre-requisite: completion of Facing Human Wrongs 2.0 - If you have not yet completed this course, there are still a few spots in the summer cycle starting on June 17 with registrations open here: https://lnkd.in/gJDkASDu #ProfessionalDevelopment #DepthEducation #HospicingModernity
