👇 Such elegant vomit must be highlighted! Just the right amount, enough to be noticed but not over-the-top, a difficult balance achieved for this week's Nature Magazine cover, where the word 'poo' maintains a level of gravitas. Thanks to artist Marcin Ambrozik for quickly turning around our request to tweak the vomit just a bit (has to be said, one of the more enjoyable pleas I've made to an artist in my career), along with author Martin Qvarnström and editor Henry Gee. Link to the fantastic paper on fossilized dinosaur poo and vomit in the comments.

I demand a BTS post on the vomit tweaks

I’m glad you’ve put ‘poo’ on the cover - readers of Nature Briefing would occasionally write and complain when editors use the word because it’s not scientific enough :-)

I heard a piece on NPR about this and was happy to hear it appeared in Nature. And I love the cover!
