Disappointing that education departments and so called Aboriginal education bodies have committee meetings with federal and state bodies which they invite non Indigenous orgs and ignore the work we do. When we contribute heavily to the education system and are by the far the most known Indigenous STEM org and wide spread in the country. Why do I have to fight for a seat at the table when we deliver results and resources these other orgs who are invited use? Why don’t we get included or invited? Why is this gate keeping allowed to continue when sporting codes get millions of federal and national funding which is also being tapped into by other government agencies? I have no issue with the funding of these orgs. But how is it fair for our kids and our mob if we and others aren’t even invited to make it a competitive process. The things i have been invited to have input on have 4 to 5 people from the same organisation on the committee how does this create a diversity of knowledge when more than 50% of the committee have the same professional interests for their organisation. It's corrupt at best. Our books and our resources are currently imbedded in the curriculum and our role is to empower the 3% of our students and educate the 97%. We need more community engagement and the people making these decisions need to have an education on our mob because it's clear to me they have almost zero community consultation and they're focussed on easy wins.
