J: N this is the problem, how do I deal with it? N: Do this and this way J: But N- If I do this, they will not like me anymore N: Focus on getting the Job done rather than being Liked!! I have kept saying and reinforcing the above statement to peers, team members at work & colleagues across spheres! Here's why 1. Professionalism Over Personal Relationships: The primary goal in a workplace is to meet organizational objectives and contribute to the company's success. While personal relationships can enhance the work environment, they shouldn't take precedence over achieving work goals. 2. Performance Metrics: Performance is often measured by results, not by how well you get along with colleagues. 3. Objective Decision-Making: Focusing on the job at hand can help you make decisions based on data and facts rather than personal biases or emotions. 4. Resilience: Not everyone will like you, and that's okay. Being able to work effectively regardless of personal feelings helps build resilience and adaptability, which are valuable traits in any profession. 5. Professional Growth: Sometimes, focusing on the work itself can lead to opportunities for learning and growth that might not come from social interactions. 6. Conflict Resolution: In any workplace, conflicts can arise. Prioritizing the job over personal likability can help in addressing conflicts more constructively, focusing on solutions rather than personal grievances. 7. Team Dynamics: While being liked can facilitate teamwork, a strong focus on the job can also foster respect and admiration for your work ethic. Respect earned through competence can sometimes be more valuable than being liked. #loveme #lovemenot 😚

We’ve all been there—sometimes, you just don’t vibe with a coworker. Since you can't ghost your teammates, try the steps below to stay professional, focused and productive. Keep it Professional Focus on the work at hand and maintain a courteous attitude, even if you don’t see eye-to-eye. Set boundaries by keeping conversations work-related and avoid getting drawn into personal conflicts. Focus on the Task, Not the Person Shift your attention to the work you’re doing together. Prioritize completing the task at hand rather than dwelling on personal differences, which can help keep interactions neutral and productive. Communicate Constructively If something bothers you, calmly address it with your coworker. Use “I” statements like, “I’ve noticed that we sometimes misunderstand each other. Can we talk about how to improve communication?” Take the High Road Avoid gossiping or complaining about your coworker to others in the office. This can damage your own reputation and make it harder to resolve the issue professionally. Leverage Your Manager If tensions escalate or affect your work, have a private conversation with your manager. Frame it as a need for advice on how to collaborate better, rather than a personal complaint. Focus on Personal Growth Sometimes, difficult coworkers offer valuable lessons in patience, empathy, and teamwork. Consider how this experience can help you grow your interpersonal skills for future roles. Workplace dynamics are tricky, but handling them with grace and professionalism will only strengthen your career in the long run! #earlycareer #careerdevelopment #Jobadvice #Corporateculture #WorkplaceCommunication #OfficeDynamics #ConflictManagement #campustocorporate

In every workplace, you're bound to encounter colleagues who are more difficult to work with than others. They might be negative, absent, competitive, or passive-aggressive. Your first reaction might be to avoid them or try to change them, but this often leads to more stress. Instead, focus on what you can control: - Communicate clearly: express your needs clearly and respectfully. - Empathise:try to understand their perspective, even if you don't agree with it. - Set boundaries: define your boundaries clearly and respect them. - Focus on solutions: seek common ground solutions instead of dwelling on the problem. - Ask for help: don't be afraid to seek help from your manager or Human Resources. Deaing with difficult people isn't easy, but you can improve your work relationships and maintain a positive work environment.

Transparency in processes is the key to overall success, whether we're performing day-to-day tasks or working on a special project. However, with current trends and concepts promoting self-confidence and slogans like "fake it till you make it," people often lose a purpose of transparency and simple honesty. They subconsciously prioritise soft skills focused on high performance, believing it brings more credibility and boost the process of promotion or gaining sympathy from others. In my opinion, most principles aren't only dependent on attitude and deliverables or high performance, but rather on simple transparency and reliability. Companies often say, "hire for attitude, skills can be taught," yet attitude might also reflect two sides of the same coin. Therefore, it's crucial to identify the intentions and inner desires that drive an individual to perform and contribute to the organization or team. Creating a casual environment and support of an open communication can support in this identification process. By simply excluding a high-performance work attitude, individuals are more likely to share their true feelings and mindset, which ultimately translates into their attitude at work. A person who is selfish in their daily life routine is likely to indicate similar traits in a work environment, regardless of appearance. It's essential to hire individuals with whom you'd feel comfortable navigating both the pros and cons of your own performance, without fear that they would exploit the situation for personal gain. Hire people you can trust, not just those who will outperform and generate high returns. Fostering trust among coworkers is not just beneficial but essential for achieving the overall success and unity within any organization. Do you believe in trust? #trust #reality #communication #unity

FACTS ABOUT THE WORKPLACE. 1. Your boss is not your friend. Regardless of how close you both are, learn to set PROFESSIONAL boundaries. 2. Walls have ears. Be careful who you confide in at work. A listening ear could also be a flippant mouth. 3. Your employer is now concerned about RESULTS. How you get the JOB done is up to you. No excuses. 4. There is always that one person/ group of persons feeding the boss with happenings in the office. Some employees brief go beyond the official ( except in work cultures where such act is expressly frowned upon). Be guided. 5. When you get withdrawn from PROJECTS or someone is asked to understudy you or you get demoted without cogent reason(s), that may be a cue you'd soon be shown the exit door. 6. As much as you can, keep your private life away from COLLEAGUES. You might be under INVESTIGATION for achieving some personal great feat without you even knowing. 7. Somebody your colleagues may not even like you, it could be the way you LOOK, DRESS, SPEAK, your capabilities, accomplishments at work, your aura or for some weird reasons and that is fine. Everybody cannot like you, so accept that. 8. Pay attention to body language, tone, pitch and pace of voice from your team members, colleagues or your boss. They may provide important cues to what isn't expressly said. Studies have shown that emotions, likes and dislikes are communicated via 38% para- verbal and 55% non verbal. Only 7% are communicated via verbal communication. 9. There will always be that " exceptional colleague" who gets the job done, gets the recognition and praises. Don't let that feeling of DISDAIN or inadequacy set in. See what that person is doing differently, how they do it and learn. You'll become a better person. Be open to LEARNING. 10. While the workplace should foster POSITIVE VALUABLE RELATIONSHIPS, your primary aim is to get the job done and go home. Don't forget that. #motivation #highlights #ObiIfeomaFavour Obi Ifeoma Favour cares

Here are some important lessons I've learned about working in a corporate environment over the past year. If you're new to this, these tips might come in handy: 1. Colleagues vs. Friends: Remember, your coworkers are not necessarily your friends. While you'll work closely with them, it's important to maintain a professional boundary. 2. Avoid Office Politics: Getting involved in office politics rarely pays off. It's best to steer clear of it altogether. 3. Communication is Key: Clear communication is crucial. It can either work for you or against you, so hone this skill. 4. Set Boundaries: Establish your boundaries early on and stick to them. Some people will push to test them, but it's important to maintain them. 5. It's Okay to Burn Out: It's normal to feel burnt out sometimes. Don't pressure yourself to always give 100%. Giving even 50% effort on some days is acceptable. 6. Job Changes are Fine: Don't hesitate to explore different job opportunities. It's part of finding what suits you best in the corporate world. 7. Watch for Managerial Red Flags: Keep an eye out for signs of trouble in your managers. It's important to have a supportive and respectful work environment. 8. Acknowledge Your Achievements: Make sure your efforts are recognized by keeping track of your achievements and sharing them with your managers and colleagues. 9. Separate Personal and Professional Life: Maintaining a healthy balance between your personal and professional life is crucial for your well-being. 10. Prioritize Mental Health: No job or opportunity is worth sacrificing your mental well-being. If a situation is taking a toll on your mental health, it's okay to walk away. In my view, I'm curious about your opinion regarding those who have recently entered corporate life. What are your thoughts?

"Your skills are NOT IMPORTANT" You might feel offended when I say your skills are not important, but skills can be taught, your behavior cannot. It is something you need to work on yourself, reflect on yourself and read about yourself to bring the change in you. ❓ Why is #personality important at work? 🔉 Effective & Polite Communication - Effective communication in the workplace ensures clarity of information, builds a positive work environment, and eliminates inefficiencies. Polite communication helps us to build positive relationships, foster understanding, and promote cooperation. 🤗 Good Behavior - Good behavior at work results in defining a positive workplace environment, creating a conduciveness for coworkers and customers. 🤝 Cooperation - A good cooperation demonstrates the ability to work effectively and respectfully with diverse people or teams, make compromises, build consensus in decision-making, assume shared responsibility for collaborative work, and value the opinions and contributions of individual team members, from a position of firm self-identity. ✨ Positive Attitude - A positive outlook while at work can increase your motivation, creativity, and productivity. To conclude, I would like to say that it's high time to work on our personalities along with our skills. Skills and good personalities should go hand in hand. Would love to hear your opinions in the comment sections.
