Forwarded Message: PhD position in Environmental Science at the University of Arizona Dr. Julia K. Green’s lab at the University of Arizona is seeking an enthusiastic PhD student to start in Fall 2025. The successful candidate will be part of a collaboration with colleagues at the University of Montana and the University of Indiana to assist in developing a soil water potential dataset, and to use it for applications related to vegetation dynamics and feedbacks. Preferred qualifications: The successful candidate should have a bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in a related field (e.g., environmental science, ecology, environmental engineering). They should be comfortable working in R or Python, with knowledge of ecosystem science, plant physiology, remote sensing and data science. Ideal candidates will have some research and scientific writing experience, with a strong work ethic. To apply: Interested students are encouraged to send a CV, writing sample, and a cover letter outlining their qualifications and research interests to Dr. Julia Green (juliakgreen@arizona.edu). The cover letter should include why the candidate thinks that they would be a good fit for the position. The University has been awarded £9M for a PhD research and training programme for the next generation of environmental scientists! Over 100 PhD students over the next 5 years will benefit from this money. Head of School Prof Graeme Paton said these students will "deliver novel solutions to the most pressing environmental problems.” The project brings together biological scientists, geologists and other organisations involved in environmental management and policy development.
