Years ago I watched Horst Schulze give a talk at the Global Leadership Summit and he said that all customers want 3 things. They want their product on time, free of defects and to enjoy the experience. This stood out to me cause it’s all so simple and it makes sense. I have been reflecting on this and have realized that this above concept only applies when someone as elected to use your product and services. But during the sales cycle is there something just as simple that people look for when making a decision to use XYZ company Within the geologic oil and gas service business there isn’t much that separates one company from another. Sure some offer more services, have more local experience etc etc. but when a potential client is comparing everyone what is the things that they put their finger on to fill good about the company they chose. I believe I have figured out 3 simple things that every operator cares about when making the decision for who they are going to use for geosteering and mudlogging. My challenge if you are still reading this to my network of operators and friends. Please message me with why did you choose Terra Guidance, LLC over others, why didn’t you choose TG, or what is something that you have used to make a decision to use a company when they are all similar.

What a great afternoon at the Queensland Leaders #AlumniForum last week, where we explored one of my favourite topics "The Importance of Communication and Relationships to Create New Opportunities and Overcome Challenges.”  ⁣ A big thank you to Leann Webb GAICD from Aurora Marketing - Tenders, Bids, Proposals, Submissions and David Toohey MBA BBus(Acc) from FifthEagle - Next Generation Business Advisory for leading the conversation. ⁣ We dove deep into one of the key tools used by organisations when focusing on communication, which is DISC. ⁣ A lot of the Alumni have been exposed to DISC, but the secret here is to apply it every day to you, your team, your clients, and your stakeholders. ⁣ Once you know how you communicate and behave, it’s about adjusting your style to build rapport and relationships with others. This is a sign of great leadership – and it all starts with understanding human behaviour! ⁣ Through the use of role-play, the Alumni had lots of fun applying the theory straight away, and, as uncomfortable and challenging role plays can be for some, we implemented the learnings immediately, learned lots about ourselves and others, and had lots of fun doing it! ⁣ See you all next month! ⁣ #QueenslandLeaders #Alumni #DISC #Communication #Relationships #Influence #Executives #Thinkingleaders #Connection #Finance

Here are some key takeaways: The way to approach this is just to put your ideas out there, and see who it attracts! If you gain a following, that's the mark of a Thought Leader :-) Don't be intimidated by this self-limiting belief that "everything has already been said." Your view and life experience is different; your network is different; they haven't necessarily heard what you have to say. One of the reasons that people write or talk is because they want to learn something. So ask yourself: What do you want to learn? And, are you learning something by what you’re creating?  Lastly, you don't have to have it all "figured out" to begin; you will likely refine your ideas as you write, talk or present. Whether you're working in an organization or externally, you may have interesting or unique ideas. Just give yourself permission to start!!
