Excited to kick off our bilateral cooperation with #Guatemala 🇬🇹 ! Just after we welcomed Guatemala to LAC4 last week, we also co-organised roundtables on #cybersecurity with the delegation of the European Union to Guatemala and the Presidential Commission for Open and Electronic Government of Guatemala and had several bilateral meetings with key stakeholders from government institutions and ministries. The roundtable seminars brought together different stakeholders to discuss building more resilient and secure digital societies and how to raise awareness about cyber risks, including sharing best practices from #EU, #Estonia and #CostaRica. The bilateral meetings with government stakeholders allowed for a more deliberate discussion on different cyber governance models and sharing the lessons learned from the EU. We’re glad that our week-long mission attracted more than 300 cross-sectoral participants! Our mission lead Merili Soosalu said that Guatemala is taking significant steps towards strengthening its cybersecurity posture by fostering collaboration and dialogue among key stakeholders, and reaffirmed #EUCyberNet’s and #LAC4’s commitment in supporting Guatemala on their journey. 🔗 Read the key take-aways from our mission here: https://lnkd.in/dmuFgR2e Unión Europea en Centroamérica Comisión Presidencial de Gobierno Abierto y Electrónico GAE

As bad as the current situation is, recent years have taught us a lot about ensuring cybersecurity, especially given the rapid increase in the number of attacks ever since the start of the war in Ukraine. The #cybersecurity sector in Europe is indeed growing. Awareness and regulatory efforts for building European digital resilience and fostering cybersecurity are also on the rise, bringing us closer to a secure, more integrated Europe - experts argued during the “Cybersecurity as a Catalyst of the CEE Digital Economy” panel discussion held during Tallinn Digital Summit 2024 we had the pleasure of co-organising with the Polish Embassy in Tallinn. Michal Kanownik, President of Digital Poland Association, kicked off the session by showcasing the findings of our report on CEE’s digital economy and highlighting cybersecurity as one of the technological fields poised to transform it, also describing the current digital security landscape of Central Eastern Europe. Experts from across the region then considered the issues of interest and awareness of cybersecurity both in the public and private sector, expectations towards relevant regulations, capabilities of the most vulnerable market participants in #CEE and means for allowing our region’s cybersecurity industry to grow. Thank you to the organizers of Tallinn Digital Summit, Polish Embassy in Tallinn our amazing speakers: Edgars Kiukucāns, Director of the Cybersecurity Policy Department at the Latvian Ministry of Defence, Otakar Horák, National Expert, Researcher at NÚKIB CZ, NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (CCDCOE) and Doris Põld, CEO of ITL Estonian ICT Cluster and of course everyone in attendance.
