In recognition of our leadership in corporate purpose initiatives in Singapore, RGE was recently invited by the National Council of Social Service (NCSS) to participate in an enriching panel discussion -- "Transformational Leadership - Taking Quantum Leaps for Greater Volunteer Impact” -- at the NCSS Volunteer Management Developmental Camp. RGE was represented on the panel by Benny Lee, Executive Vice President of External Affairs. Speaking alongside Theresa Goh CK, Chairperson of Charity Council, and Cheryl Chen, President of S&P Global Foundation, and moderator Yuvan Mohan, Member of Families for Life Council, Benny spoke to more than 30 appointed NCSS Volunteer Management Champions (VMCs) and potential VMCs from Social Service Agencies. In his sharing, Benny highlighted RGE's commitment to corporate purpose through our 5Cs business philosophy — that everything we do must first be good for the community, country, climate and customer, and only then will it be good for the company. He also spoke about the benefit of aligning social initiatives with the corporate frameworks of businesses, which can help encourage greater buy-in of corporate volunteerism within organisations. One key takeaway from Benny was the power of collaboration in amplifying the impact of volunteer efforts. As he expressed during the panel, initiatives like those facilitated by NCSS bring volunteer management champions together, fostering partnerships and synergy. By working as an ecosystem, we multiply the effects of our collective actions, creating tangible, far-reaching benefits for our communities. #Volunteerism #SocialImpact #Collaboration #Leadership #CommunityEngagement

🔍 Exploring Engagement Opportunities through Micro-Volunteering! As this series of posts on the diverse landscape of volunteering in Europe is coming to an end, I would like to highlight a major opportunity that stands out for its flexibility and accessibility: micro-volunteering. Understanding the differences between formal and informal volunteering is crucial to harnessing this potential. Formal vs. Informal Volunteering: - Formal Volunteering: Typically organized by institutions or organizations, often involving scheduled commitments and specific roles. - Informal Volunteering: Task based. More spontaneous, personal, and flexible, often driven by individual initiatives and community needs. - Micro-Volunteering can help bridge the gap between these two, offering short, convenient, and impactful tasks that can be completed on-the-go. It's a fantastic way to engage a broader audience, including those who may find traditional volunteering commitments challenging. Why Micro-Volunteering Works: 🕒 Flexibility: Volunteers can contribute whenever they have a few minutes to spare. 🌍Accessibility: Tasks can be completed from anywhere, often using digital platforms. 💥Immediate Impact: Volunteers see the results of their efforts quickly, boosting motivation and satisfaction. Engagement Strategies: 💻Leverage Technology: Use apps and online platforms to coordinate and track micro-volunteering opportunities. 🔑Highlight Benefits: Emphasize the ease and immediate impact of micro-volunteering in your recruitment messages. 🎯Diversify Tasks: Offer a range of tasks that appeal to different interests and skills, making it easier for people to get involved. By incorporating micro-volunteering into your volunteer engagement strategy, you can tap into a wider pool of potential volunteers, fostering a culture of community involvement and support. How are you leveraging micro-volunteering to enhance your community engagement? #MicroVolunteering #Volunteering #CommunityEngagement #VolunteerOpportunities #EuropeVolunteers

This year is the 40th anniversary of Volunteers' Week which celebrates the amazing contributions volunteers make across the UK 🎉 Through workplace volunteering, employees can build connections with their local communities, develop new skills and give back to society while contributing to causes that tackle the issues they care about. Employers benefit by building stronger teams, improving staff morale, enhancing brand reputation and demonstrating a commitment to improving the lives of others. If you want to promote and increase employer-supported volunteering in your organisation try applying the EAST behaviour change model to your work: ➡ Make it easy - this addresses the barriers to volunteering that result from busy workloads, inertia and the status quo bias. ➡ Make it attractive - this can influence people’s behaviour because many decisions are made automatically, in the moment. We're susceptible to things that are salient and novel and appeal to our self-image. ➡ Make it social - this taps into the fact that we're social and competitive creatures who tend to follow social norms. ➡ Make it timely - this addresses the gap between intention and action. 🤝 Employee Volunteer Programs: A Win-Win for Business and Community 😄At Kukhula-Tech, we believe that fostering a culture of volunteerism isn’t just about giving back—it’s about building stronger connections between employees, businesses, and the communities we serve. Employee volunteer programs (EVPs) are a powerful way to drive meaningful impact, both within and beyond the workplace. ➡️When businesses support and encourage volunteerism, they not only contribute to important causes but also foster a sense of purpose and engagement among their teams. Studies show that employees who volunteer feel more fulfilled, develop new skills, and have higher job satisfaction. It’s a way for businesses to cultivate leadership, teamwork, and empathy, while contributing to positive social change. 🐸From mentoring students in underserved communities to supporting environmental sustainability efforts, EVPs create a ripple effect of benefits. 🏢Communities gain valuable support, while companies build a strong culture of purpose-driven work. ✔️At Kukhula-Tech, we’re committed to empowering our teams to make a difference. Ever wondered what drives people to volunteer and what they gain in return? We utilized our 10K Voices community to conduct in-person intercepts in Tokyo to better understand this. Here are five surprising insights from the 認定NPO法人 Hands On Tokyo Volunteer Study that might just inspire you to roll up your sleeves 💪🏼: 1. Giving Back is Key - Both current and potential volunteers are driven by the desire to give back to their communities. Whether inspired by past support received or a general sense of duty, this motivation is a common thread. It's all about paying it forward. 2. Inconvenience is a Major Barrier - Time constraints, lack of information, and physical limitations often deter people from volunteering. Simplifying access can turn that around. 3. Emotional Rewards Abound - Volunteering isn’t just about helping others; it brings a host of emotional benefits too. Volunteers report increased happiness, stress relief, and a sense of accomplishment. 4. Volunteering Enhances Skills - Stepping out of comfort zones, volunteers gain practical skills and broaden their perspectives. From better communication to increased self-esteem, the growth is real and super impactful! 5. Community Impact is Tangible - Volunteers see positive changes in their environment, contributing to livelier, safer public spaces. This ripple effect boosts community spirit and engagement, benefiting everyone involved. Net Net = There's a transformative power in volunteering and it's a real spirit booster! We'd love to hear the causes and organizations that you volunteer for, or recommend that others volunteer for so chime in! 📣 Read the full report below: #mrx #marketresearch #volunteering #handsontokyo #globalinsights #10kVoices #interceptinterviews #facetofacemrx #qualitative #quantitative Kerry HechtYuko S.Jay TyeIsabela SangiorgiAbigail Wochaski

Volunteering has helped me to integrate into Australian culture, expand my knowledge and feel I belong here. I have been participating in different volunteer programs to support, learn and contribute to the community over the last 5 years. To celebrate National Volunteer Week, I’ll be sharing some of the lessons I learned from 400 hours of volunteering as a city ambassador at the City of Melbourne. 💡 Expanded Local Knowledge Each volunteer shift brought new opportunities to work with different volunteers and spark different conversations. This allowed me to get to know more about Melbourne from the locals and fellow volunteers. 🙌 Embracing diversity One of the most enriching aspects of volunteering as a city ambassador has been celebrating the diversity of cultures of people who visit our city. Each encounter provided an opportunity to learn about different perspectives, fostering a deeper appreciation for the world’s rich tapestry of cultures. 😀 Simple smile goes along the way To greet someone with a smile is the simple act of kindness we all can express. 🎤 Enhancing Communication Skills Being on the street or at different events, I have communicated with people from different walks of life. This helped me to become a better communicator. ☘ Commitment is not easy, but the rewards are greater When I learned that the minimum commitment for the volunteer role was 12 months, I was a bit hesitant. However, by taking each week as it goes, and showing up for each shift, I learned the value of commitment. With commitment, the depth of relationship with other volunteers went deeper along with a greater volume of knowledge and experience gained. If you are volunteering somewhere like me, let me know what have you learned from your experience. #volunteer #NVW2024 #somethingforeveryone #volunteerexperience
