Thrilled to share that my master's thesis has been published and is now available for reading. Thesis title: Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) in Technical Education: The Case of Egypt’s Applied Technology Schools (ATS) The PPP model has been championed by international organizations across multiple sectors, including education. While many countries have adopted this model in education, Egypt implemented it in its technical education system with the launch of the Applied Technology Schools (ATS) in the academic year 2018/19, starting with just three pilot schools and expanding to over 40 by 2023. As the first comprehensive academic research on this unique PPP model in Egypt, my research explores how the PPP model operates within ATS, its governance structure, key stakeholders, and the challenges and opportunities it presents. I conclude with policy recommendations for potential ways of enhancement - which becomes particularly useful given the vision of expanding the model in Egypt to reach 420 by 2030. #Egypt advanced 32 places in the technical education and vocational training index issued by the United Nations Development Programme, to occupy 81st place in 2022, compared to 113th place in 2017. In addition, it advanced 18 places in the Professional and Technical Skills Index issued by the European Institute of Business Administration, to occupy 51st place in 2022, compared to 69th place in 2017. This comes as Egypt advanced 42 places in the education system’s connection to the economy index issued by the same institute, to occupy 75th place in 2022, compared to 117th place in 2017. 🏆 Elsewedy Technical Academy - STA follows a dual education system for three years, where the student attends 80% practical training in factories and 20% theoretical study at school.
