Myth: Internships Are the Only Way to Work with Student Talent ✅Fact: There are many ways to work with students beyond internships! Here are a few you may not have considered: >Capstone Projects: Unpaid capstone projects allow students in their final semester to take you on as a client and tackle your business challenges by providing research and analysis. Need a website developed or a business expansion plan created? Consider offering a capstone project to business or marketing students! >Practicums: Practicums provide students with industry experience, bringing classroom learning to life and supporting short- and medium-term projects. They also help determine long-term fit within your organization. If you have a professional in your organization who is able to mentor a student (while getting some extra help) consider this type of student experience. >Community Service Learning: Provides hands-on learning opportunities for students who are willing to work with organizations that serve the community. These can be unpaid or short term roles or projects. If you work in a non-profit and need extra help for an event, fundraising drive, or even data management, consider offering this type of experience to a student. Check out our video for a range of ways that you can work with student talent: https://lnkd.in/gwQij3St Grow your talent pipeline, get some skilled help, and increase your organization’s visibility by taking on students in the way that works best for your business! 🔍 Ready to find your student? 👉 Visit talentedyyc.com, email info@talentedyyc.com or message us right here on LinkedIn to get started. 📢 Attention faculty and campus partners! With the ever-increasing focus on connecting classroom to career, we invite you to learn more about Parker Dewey and Micro-Internships as you plan for the spring semester ahead. We recently surveyed our students and confirmed something we already suspected: they’re balancing a lot and often feel like they don’t have enough time for things like networking events or internships. However, we also know that having hands-on work experience is one of the best things students can do to set themselves up for career success. So, how do we bridge the gap? Enter Micro-Internships. Parker Dewey is an online platform that all STJ students have free access to. The platform exclusively features Micro-Internship opportunities, all of which are paid! Unlike a traditional internship, these opportunities typically range from 10 to 40 hours of work in total, and many can be completed remotely. For busy professionals and businesses, Micro-Internships offer a solution to short-term staffing and project needs. For students, Micro-Internships provide opportunities to build skills, explore career options, connect with alumni, and showcase their talent to prospective employers. We encourage you to share these short-term, low-risk, high-value projects with your fellow colleagues, and of course, with your students! They can access Parker Dewey through the Career Services website (look for the Career Services tile on STJ sign-on). If you'd like to connect with someone in our office to learn more about how you can integrate these opportunities into the classroom, simply comment on this post and someone will get in touch with you!

🌟 How much of your success comes from “learning on the job”? Chances are, a significant chunk of your skills and expertise were honed not in a classroom, but in the real world, solving real problems. That's why we're drawn to internships, volunteering, and other hands-on opportunities. They let us take what we think we know and put it to the test, all while building an impressive resume that catches employers' eyes. This is the entire point of externships, like those at TripleTen. Externships are like internships, but with a twist: they let you apply what you learn in the classroom to real business challenges — so you're not getting someone's coffee, you're hands-on with tech. Imagine building a product or streamlining a process as part of your education! Curious to see the impact? Check out how our students recently completed an externship with Synthesis Workshop, an open-access video podcast. It’s proof that a bootcamp with an externship could be your ticket to breaking into tech and launching a new career. 🚀 #TechCareers #BootcampLife #HandsOnLearning #CareerChange For the video portion of this, see our blog here: https://lnkd.in/gNmQS8DA

🎯 Unlocking the Power of Student Potential in Internships One of my favorite parts of being an internship teacher and coordinator is facilitating discussions between students and their supervisors about workplace skills and reflections. Hearing what students accomplish—and more importantly, the skills they used to complete their projects—is transformative. These conversations change the narrative for students. They start to see the value of their skills and learn how to articulate their stories of accomplishment. It’s an eye-opening experience that often leads to a surge in their confidence. Students realize they have so much to offer. Even in roles that may not seem glamorous, they adopt a growth mindset and find learning opportunities in every situation. Our Naperville District 203 Career Internship Program is more than just exploring career paths. It’s about building real-world skills and valuable experiences. Students challenge their assumptions, distinguish reality from perception, and create portfolios that tell their unique stories. I truly feel like I’ve hit the jackpot in education. I get to help design this program with an outstanding Naperville Community Unit School District 203 team and witness firsthand the outcomes these incredible students achieve. They’re the next generation of skilled workers, and they’re already proving their potential through high school internship programs. 💡 Are you ready to collaborate with these amazing students? Let’s connect and explore how we can work together to support this next generation of talent. #Internships #WorkBasedLearning #SkillsForLife #CareerEducation #StudentSuccess

💻 When was the last time you had to think on your feet to solve a problem in real time? One of our IT micro-interns recently reflected on their experience: "I learned things don’t always go as they are supposed to, and you have to think on your feet to find viable alternatives that work." This is problem-solving in action, and it’s exactly what our students are mastering through hands-on internships. In the fast-paced world of IT, adaptability is key, and this student rose to the challenge, bringing fresh ideas and solutions to their team. 🛠️ Our Career Internship Program is building more than technical skills—it’s developing critical thinking, resilience, and the ability to thrive under pressure. 🔑 Businesses, this is your chance to invest in the next generation of problem-solvers while gaining valuable support on your projects. These internships are short-term, impactful, and a great way to give back. Let’s collaborate. Who’s ready to mentor the future of tech? Today is move-in day for our summer Academic Internship Program at The Washington Center - an exciting time for #college students from all over the nation to #intern in #nonprofit, #government, and #business roles in almost every imaginable type of career path. A 10-week intensive time to gain #careerskills in a real-world #workplace environment where they will build #networks, solve problems and start to imagine their #career journeys. But... Did you know just 10% of #communitycollege grads and 25% of undergraduates have had access to a paid #internship experience? That's why at TWC, we are committed to 100% paid internships by 2025! And according to a recent report from Strada Education Foundation, it's even gotten worse for recent grads: 52% are considered UNDERemployed (that's up from 41% just two years ago in 2022!). As Andrew Hanson shared with our Board of Trustees recently, this is a systemic, national challenge - and one that can be solved with the right set of policies and interventions. At The Washington Center, we are passionate about creating different modalities and lengths of programs so students and learners can gain the #workbasedlearning and #careerconnectedskills they need to thrive in the #postCOVID #workforce. We know that #coaching and #mentoring go a long way towards building the #socialcapital learners will need as they enter the #jobmarket to thrive. Having met a lot of the students as they checked in to our building today, I'm impressed with their energy and can't wait to see all they accomplish. I remain filled with hope yet am also determined to #scale more #opportunities in other formats for more access for students who can't participate in a semester or summer long program. If we are serious about closing the gaps, #highered, #employers, #policymakers and orgs like mine must be committed to providing access to programs for all students that lead to quality jobs and #economicmobility. #workforcedevelopment #firstjob #graduation #internship #summerinterns

There are three key areas to a successful college experience: academic, social, and professional. Our goal at Last Cup Scaries is to help college students get the most out of their four years.. A common belief is that one area must be sacrificed for another: nope! Instead, the true path to a fruitful four years of college is a balanced relationship between these three areas. Here on LinkedIn, we will be focusing on the professional side of things. Using our team’s varied backgrounds in science, business, and the arts we’ll be providing guidance on how to set yourself up for future success. Not only will we be giving advice, but we’ll also be highlighting stories of current upperclassmen and recent graduates. Often the best way to learn is to simply hear about the experiences that others have gone through. Follow along in the coming weeks and feel free to leave comments with advice or questions! #careeradvice #college #internships #jobsearch #networking #success #lastcupscaries
