NDCS recently took part in a Community Health Screening & Mini Health Carnival held at NTUC Health@Jalan Bukit Merah. The oral health educational booth saw our oral health therapists Ms Tharannum D/O Rafiq Govindasamy Abdullah and Ms Nadia Binte Ariffin on site to help educate residents on oral healthcare. This is part of NDCS’ community outreach efforts to educate residents on oral healthcare. The event attracted around 115 residents who received oral care products sponsored by Lion Corporation upon completing an oral health quiz. Participating in community outreach activities such as this are part of NDCS’ Population Oral Health Strategies, which will be consistently implemented to promote and improve oral healthcare in Singapore. #NationalDentalCentreSingapore #NDCS #SingHealth

🌍 HEALTH AND BEYOND: FROM EVIDENCE TO ACTION 🌏 October 20th marked World EBHC Day, a global initiative that aims to raise awareness of the need for better evidence to inform healthcare policy, practice and decision-making in order to improve health and wellbeing outcomes. It also provides an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the dedication, hard work and impact of researchers, academics, students, policy makers, advocates, clinicians, consumers and other agents of change who are driving improvements in the quality and outcomes of healthcare across the world. Producing, facilitating, disseminating and translating evidence to impact the health, wellbeing and quality of life for older people, and those who care for them, is everything we do at NARI - during our annual staff planning day last week, our talented team of directors, researchers, clinicians and operational support staff worked together with our ambassadors, board president and members of our community advisory panel on a new strategic plan for 2025 - 2029 that will enable us to clearly, collectively and collaboratively focus our efforts in order to successfully achieve our vision and mission. In preparation of their 10 Year Health Plan to build a health service fit for the future, the government have identified 'three shifts' that are broadly agreed to be necessary to improve health and care services in England. Shift 1: moving more care from hospitals to communities Shift 2: making better use of technology in health and care Shift 3: focussing on preventing sickness, not just treating it Drawing on a decade of partnership with Buurtzorg to support learning from its world-renowned success with self-organised neighbourhood teams, and on our work with 50+ NHS, local government and third sector organisations in Britain and Ireland, we have acquired in-depth knowledge and experience of the challenges these essential shifts pose across the whole system. Join our inspiration workshop to explore the great opportunities for better neighbourhood health and care these shifts could create, the challenges of the changes involved, and how we might work together to overcome them. #FutureHealth #HealthcareTransformation

I recently attended the Public Health Convention 2024. From local challenges to innovative solutions, the convention covered a wide range of crucial topics in public health. I knew already that I wanted this convention to have a more lasting impact on my view of public health, so while waiting for my flight back, I decided to look and stare at my notes and try to visualize what I learned through a mind map (see attached). As I synthesized the information, I was struck by two realizations: 1. The sheer density of content covered in just two days was remarkable. I had to remove some unique terms to put them all on one page. 2. The depth of expertise shared by the speakers was truly inspiring. Through the learnings, it's easier for me, as a pharmacist in the public health space, to look for opportunities where the pharmacy profession can help enable better Filipino health outcomes. I can truly say that the decision to join the Philippine Society of Public Health Physicians as an affiliate member is very worthwhile. #Lihokjud #PublicHealth #HealthSystemsPharmacist #PHCon2024

Today we celebrate World Health Day. At #AMCE, we recognise the importance of prioritising health and well-being every day, but on this special occasion, let's take a moment to reflect on the significance of health in our lives and communities. This year's theme, "Building a Fairer, Healthier World," resonates deeply with our mission at AMCE. We believe that everyone, regardless of their background or circumstances, deserves access to quality healthcare and resources for a fulfilling life. In celebration of World Health Day, we're reaffirming our commitment to: 👩⚕️ Providing quality healthcare solutions for all. 🌱 Promoting health education and awareness. 💡 Innovating to address emerging health challenges like NDCs. 🤝Collaborating with partners to strengthen health systems in Africa. Together, let's work towards a future where health disparities are a thing of the past, and everyone has the opportunity to thrive. #WorldHealthDay #AMCE

We often think of healthcare as something that kicks in when we’re unwell, but real wellness starts long before that. It’s rooted in our earliest years, shaped by what we eat, where we learn, and the care we receive. School health and early childhood development are two cornerstones that help build a healthier, stronger generation. Healthy Beginnings: A child’s brain grows at an incredible rate in the first five years, forming millions and millions of neural connections. It’s a crucial time where good nutrition, regular check-ups, and safe environments can make all the difference in setting up a child’s mind and body. Schools as Health Champions: Schools have a unique role in spotting early signs of physical or mental health concerns and providing extra help when needed. When children learn about nutrition, mental wellbeing, and self-care at school, they’re better prepared to look after themselves as they age. Closing Gaps: By bringing healthcare into schools, we can make sure that kids from all backgrounds have access to essentials like health screenings and vaccinations. It’s a vital step towards levelling the playing field and ensuring every child has a fair shot at a healthy life. As professionals, advocates, and members of our communities, let’s push for a future where health and education work hand-in-hand. Every investment in school health and early childhood development is a step towards a fairer, healthier world. #PublicHealth #EarlyChildhoodDevelopment #SchoolHealth #HealthEquity #Wellbeing
