Honoured to have attended the #CWCT's largest AGM at The Mermaid in London for Smart Architectural Aluminium, where 300 professionals from across the façade industry gathered. A huge thank you to CWCT and all the speakers for their insightful presentations on the evolving landscape of construction, which covered key topics such as the #BuildingSafetyAct, #FireSafety regulations, and #Sustainability practices in modern construction. The panel delved into the implications of Gateway 2 from the Building Safety Act, and how it will reshape building financing and design, driving towards 'standardization (for both) systemised building (and there) envelopes' as a catalyst for adoption of #MMC and #Offsite. David Stow presented several compelling case studies, shedding light on the complex but pragmatic decision-making process involved in fire engineering for façades, highlighting best practices and lessons learned. Peter Fisher brought attention to the #sustainability benefits of #refurbishment with his ‘use less [#resources] is more’ philosophy, while Kenneth Zammit's presentation on the #Technology brought a fresh perspective on the exponential 'use of more [#data]' in construction. Presenting the #GoldenThread as a 'golden tsunami of data,' signalling exciting times ahead for our industry. #Collaboration emerged as a recurring theme, and the venue offered an excellent setting for connecting with industry professionals, fostering valuable relationships and knowledge-sharing. What the hell does the ACPN Council do, anyway? Turns out it's A LOT. There are five different subcouncils, and every person on the council is on at least two of those subcouncils. The council is busy year-round, but we kick off each year with two days of in-person planning meetings right after the conference, and then we really get busy. There is at least 200 years of industry experience in this picture. Ten humans with different personalities, skillsets, and opinions. I'm forever baffled about how it works so well. Thank you to these brilliant volunteers who bring their A games every day, and do what they say they're going to do. Thank you to the companies who employ us, and encourage and facilitate (even just tolerate) the time and effort we donate to this community. Thank you to the Auto Care Association for hosting and providing support. And thank you most of all to the larger ACPN community, to whom this time and effort is willingly donated. We rely on your feedback and what you tell us about what you're experiencing in your work. We work for you. This year we're drawn to a theme of evolution. Specifically, the Evolution of the Content Professional. Change is coming for all of us, but knowledge sharing and collaboration are our secret weapons. We will come out on top. And if it feels like a slog sometimes, at least we're not in health care, right? #ACPN365 #connectedaftermarket
