This is the unfortunate truth for independent pharmacies lately, even those who have been in business for 86 years. As an independent pharmacy owner myself, I spend countless hours, including weekends and early mornings, to find innovative ways to keep my pharmacy profitable. The dispensing days of pharmacy are over; we must try to offer additional services, such as compounding, remote patient monitoring, testing and treatment, and collaborating more with physicians to bill for our valuable services. Although the road ahead may be challenging, this is our opportunity as a small business owner and pharmacists to be creative, innovative, and profitable by trying something new. Let's hear what niches your pharmacy has found to be profitable in the comments! 👊🏿I'm Claude, and I am an independent pharmacy and multi-business owner who invests in commercial real estate. If you are looking to learn how to invest in commercial real estate, build a successful business, or simply seeking inspiration to pursue your dreams, follow me. 86 years. Red Cross Pharmacy served their community for 86 years. Scott is a devoted pharmacist who proudly served his community, successfully ran his business, raised his family and spent time advocating for our profession. Not all heroes wear capes, some wear pharmacy coats. What a remarkable journey ended by corporate greed of PBMs. Link to story: https://lnkd.in/ddFYPSRr

Do you sometimes feel a sense of grey despair at the thought of another family of person being impacted by DV and you don't know what to do? Well, there is a simple solution and inexpensive one - you can help us to strengthen the individuals who choose to make a difference and step into the awful world of DV as true super heroes. It is simple and direct - we're building up the front line with praise to be the generational change in DV. Everyone needs praise and these folks are often the unsung heroes of our society. So don't despair! Next time you and your mates are filled with despair at what to do, instead drop $5 in the awards jar and help us to highlight what good humans are doing. We want these front-line warriors of all shapes and sizes to be the headline, not the incidents. Here's the link - drop us a fiver and know you are helping to make a difference today. https://lnkd.in/gegZzPdz

At many organizations, including Save A Family Plan, the fiscal new year is April first. This is a great time to check with your employer to see if they offer a donation matching program. If they do, it could mean DOUBLING the impact of your charitable giving! Here is a great video submitted by longtime donors, Brad and Misty, sharing how they did it. If you're willing to share this info with friends and family, please share this post or send them the direct link (https://lnkd.in/dHzqVeQu) Here's a tip: if your company does not currently offer a gift-matching program... maybe they will if you propose one :) #DoubleYourDonation #giftmatchingprogram #peoplehelpingpeople #sustainabledevelopment #saveafamilyplan

As a mixed-race individual—half Chinese, half Korean—who moved to Australia after high school, I’ve often struggled with identity. Am I Chinese? Korean? Australian? For years, I found comfort in defining myself through my work. Later, I became a wife, and my identity shifted again. This year, I stepped into yet another role: founder. It’s been exciting, humbling, and, at times, terrifying. Leading a small team while navigating uncertainties has forced me to confront a question I’ve avoided for years: Who am I really, and what if we fail? I’ve realized something that might resonate with others in similar situations: Like so many first-generation migrants, founders, and women, I’ve spent much of my life trying to meet expectations—whether cultural, societal, or self-imposed. But as 2024 ends, I’ve learned that it’s okay to embrace the unknown. I don’t have all the answers, but I know this: - I am a migrant who want to challenge the status quo. - I am learning to become a good innovator and a founder, willing to risk failure to create something meaningful. -I am a woman learning to embrace vulnerability, resilience, and growth. To my fellow founders, migrants, and women: It’s not easy. There are dark days, self-doubt, and sacrifices. But there’s also strength in knowing we’re not alone. Programs like SBE Australia program reminds us we are not alone on this path. Here’s to being brave, open, and ready—for failure, success, setbacks, and breakthroughs. Let’s keep moving forward together.
What a program! The 2024 Evolve program has come to a close but it is only the beginning for these amazing founders. A huge thank you to long time SBE Ambassador and our facilitator Noga Edelstein, our program partners City of Sydney, Phillips Ormonde Fitzpatrick, LIFTwomen® Group, Hamilton Locke, our platinum sponsors BDO in Australia, LaunchVic and IR Department and all of our guest experts who donated their time. Welcome to the newest SBE portfolio companies Anna Nedbaylova of FundBase Group, Danielle Johansen of Threadicated, Greta Menzies of My Databoss, Lucy Kough of @TaptheGap, Krish Waje of Lunaire, Olivia Mangan of Goodbyes, Zoe Taylor and Carly Nowell of Audrey & Alfie, Kate Osaze of Reswitch , Rachel Zhao of Woofya and program observer, Philippa Abbott of Pelagic. You are all outstanding! Kerri Lee Sinclair, Jim Cassidy, Bill Trestrail
