I Got the Walking Pneumonia (and the Boogie Woogie Flu) We’re approaching the cold and flu season, which may include the latest Covid 19 virus. But doctors say there is another culprit in the mix that is more prevalent this year: Walking pneumonia. Mycoplasma pneumoniae is an infection which can lead to walking pneumonia. This can be problematic as the patient may feel well enough to go to work or school but still spread the disease. Once the person is infected, the accompanying cough may take 2 weeks to get past, not to mention it could infect other people. Like most other cold-like germs, there’s no secret cure. As you could guess, we should be washing our hands, getting enough sleep and exercise, and eating well. In addition, those with co-morbidities need to be extra careful. So, let’s stay active, take care of ourselves, and be diligent about not spreading germs to others. #walkingpneumonia #covid19 #flu https://lnkd.in/e59NJttR

hMPV has been causing a panic lately in China as more people are trying to coin it "the new COVID". With increase travelling to 🇨🇳 China due to visa free passes, increase in flu like symptoms have been seen with the everyday Malaysians. Kudos to Sunway Medical Centre for summarizing the signs and symptoms to hMPV and how it differentiates from COVID. Taking precaution with 🧤 personal hygiene with antiseptic compounds with Chloroxylenol on surfaces may kill the virus as well as wearing a 😷 face mask in areas with crowds (Chinese New Year gatherings?) Albeit mixed reviews, 🤧 Flu and pneumococcal conjugated vaccines (PCV) may reduce risk of hospitalization due to lung related infections too based on several studies. Flu jabs shows the highest protection in elderly population while PCV offers mixed review in protection in children and adult hospitalization risks. Best is to make your way to consult your 🏥 healthcare physicians to get advice how to get protected during the upcoming holiday seasons. Reference: 1.
