💻🔒 As cybersecurity threats continue to evolve, it is crucial for organizations to be transparent and proactive in their response to major cyber incidents and ransomware attacks. The proposed Cyber Incident Reporting for Critical Infrastructure Act (CIRCIA) will require covered entities to promptly disclose such incidents and any ransomware payments. This is a necessary step towards improving cybersecurity resilience and protecting sensitive data. To address this issue effectively, organizations must prioritize cybersecurity measures and invest in robust defense mechanisms. This includes conducting regular security audits, implementing multi-factor authentication, training employees on cybersecurity best practices, and establishing incident response protocols. By taking these proactive steps, organizations can better defend against cyber threats and mitigate the impact of potential attacks. Let's work together to create a safer digital environment by supporting initiatives like CIRCIA and promoting a culture of accountability in cybersecurity practices. 💪💻 #Cybersecurity #Transparency #CIRCIAAct 🛡️ Thoughts and Opinions are my own and don't represent Comcast. https://lnkd.in/gpkRBeZS

This is an area where we need the best regardless of party. Hardening of our IT infrastructure needs to happen quickly. I'm a proponent of cooperation between the private and federal sector. The risk of playing politics or favoritism is too great for our national security. I recommend for those who want to better understand what's at stake you may want to read, Worm: The First Digital World War, published in 2011. The threat today and what's at stake is even greater.

Spending on Federal #cybersecurity programs is a lever that can both increase the security of government networks and shape the broader marketplace, since companies will build capabilities to sell to the sizeable Federal market that others in both the public and private sectors opt to buy as well. The power of procurement is an often-overlooked way that government spending priorities shape our collective cybersecurity landscape-- one need look no further than the way #zerotrust implementation accelerated after it became a USG-wide priority in 2021. Here is a piece I wrote for Nextgov/FCW describing cyber programs in the 2025 Federal budget and how procurement could drive similar progress in key areas such as #securebydesign IT and #GenAI security.
