🎁 A Heartfelt Thank You for a Successful Toy Drive! 🎁 A huge shoutout and thanks to Rayaan, Saahil, Aiden, Athena, and James for leading and successfully completing this incredible initiative as part of our Sibling Chapter! 💛✨ Through their dedication and teamwork, this initiative collected and delivered 436 toys to the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital’s cancer ward. These gifts of joy and hope will undoubtedly bring smiles to the brave children battling cancer. The success of this toy drive is a testament to the compassion and generosity of our community, and it reflects the power of siblings coming together to make an impact. To everyone who donated and supported this effort – thank you for helping us make a difference in the lives of these children and their families. Let’s continue to shine a light on childhood cancer and bring smiles where they’re needed most. 🌟💛 with UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals and Pleasanton Unified School District

“The needs of these young people were being totally ignored. When we first came along, if you were under 18, you were treated with children, with babies. "Was it right for a 16-year-old to be with a 16-month-old?" In this week's The Telegraph Christmas Appeal feature, Dr Adrian Whiteson OBE and Myrna Whiteson MBE, founders and life presidents of Teenage Cancer Trust, share how the charity began 👇 https://lnkd.in/eadcYx33

Today is National Cancer Survivors Day, and we're celebrating the courage, resilience and triumphs of survivors like Olivia, who inspire us with their incredible strength and positivity. Olivia was diagnosed with stage IV alveolar rhabodmyosarcoma in 2019 when she was only 9 years old. Olivia endure 2 surgeries, 66 weeks chemo and 28 rounds of proton radiation therapy, all while keeping a positive attitude, even during the hardest moments. Today, Olivia is cancer-free. Now is the perfect time to rally behind kids like Olivia, whose stories remind us why we do what we do. Here's how you can get involved: Plan an event: Organize a virtual or in-person gathering, neighborhood walk or social media challenge to support the OliviaStrong Foundation, Inc. Share Olivia’s Journey: Inspire others by sharing Olivia’s story, or your own, on social media and through personal messages. People connect deeply with stories of hope and triumph. Let’s commit to building more than structures; let’s make a difference
As President of Delta Sigma Phi, I’m honored to be part of an organization that’s passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and families battling pediatric cancer. For those who may not know, THON is the largest student-run philanthropy in the world, dedicated to raising funds and awareness for pediatric cancer. THON culminates in a 46-hour no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon, where thousands of Penn State students come together each February to celebrate the year’s efforts and stand in support of the kids and families impacted by childhood cancer. All the funds raised throughout the year benefit the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Children’s Hospital, which ensures that no family with a child battling cancer ever sees a medical bill. It also supports critical research to find a cure. Our chapter is working hard to raise money and awareness for this incredible cause, and I couldn’t be more proud of the commitment our members have shown. Every dollar we raise will make a tangible difference in the lives of these children and their families. If you’d like to join us in our mission, please consider donating to our THON efforts and help us spread the word by sharing this post. Together, we can make a difference #ForTheKids! https://lnkd.in/eRCaXhmb #THON #ForTheKids #PediatricCancer #PennStateProud #DeltaSigmaPhi #Leadership #Philanthropy #FTK #FourDiamonds

The Race for Every Child is tomorrow! We are walking in support of the Brain Tumor Trouncers team. Here's a message from BTT team lead Dr. Brian Rood: "Every dollar we raise goes directly to furthering childhood brain tumor research here at Children’s National. The money is not designated for a general fund where its impact would diffuse throughout the work of the hospital. This year, the funds we raise will support a clinical trial using a first-in-man approach developed here at Children's National. Briefly, we use a custom pipeline we developed to identify protein targets for the immune system that are unique to each individual child's tumor. We then train and expand the child's own immune cells to recognize those targets and infuse them back to kill the tumor cells. Providing unique therapeutic options where few exist requires a great deal of infrastructure that is not supported by traditional operations. We need your help to provide these innovative therapies." These are the folks who gave us 16 years with Joe that we didn't think we'd have. Donations will be accepted through 10/31.
Many of you know that our son, Joe, was a patient at Children's National Medical Center for many years. We continue to support CNMC in his memory, and the 2024 Race for Every Child is almost here! I'm getting a late start this year, but I'm still hoping to raise a significant amount for the Brain Tumor Trouncers! Will you donate today? Click here for my personal donation page.
