The book chapter by Annesha Chowdhury and Soubadra Devy highlights the importance of including a capabilities-oriented approach to achieving SDG 15, given its complex nature. The researchers argue for an inclusive approach that allows for diversity in representation, recognition of people as part of the conservation dialogue, and the recognition of people’s rights through a capabilities-oriented approach as a basic guiding principle. Using Martha Nussbaum and Breena Holland’s philosophical approach, they emphasize the need to not just protect political and environmental entitlements, through a constitutional guarantee, but expand to include an actual implementation roadmap that is inclusive and representative to successfully achieve SDGs. WATER THAT HELPS AND DOESN'T KILL. Care for forests, meadows, arable land and the urbanized environment of communities, regions, states and our common European dome need to be oriented towards slowing down the runoff of rainwater so that it does not accumulate in valleys and kill people. Only then will water help us and not kill us. Participants of the SLOVAK WATER TOUR in Kysucie could try out this model last week. One of the parts of the DALIA scientific research project is being implemented here, the aim of which is to obtain knowledge of the impact of ecosystem retention of rainwater in a damaged landscape on improving the yield of springs (www.dalia-danube.eu)

Developing scientific #evidence is key to assess the impacts of our water-sensitive infrastructure intervention. 🔬 So, what exactly are we assessing?
