With many national sports organizations and clubs driving a desire to increase participation across all levels, we must all be prepared to ensure that our clubs, facilities, and staff are ready to meet this need both for today and tomorrow. Key events of significance in our region, such as multiple high-profile World Cups, as well as an increase in the profile of local events and competitions such as the National Basketball League (NBL), ASB Classic, National Rugby League and A-Leagues have all made community sport an attractive choice and in turn funnelling people into grassroots sports clubs up and down the country. But are you ready to deal with the demand? Do you have enough staff? Are there enough fields and courts? Do you have the technological resources to deal with this significant uptick in interest? How are you dealing with this surge in interest in participation? Full article to come! #sportsmanagement #clubdevelopment #clubmanagement #sportsdevelopment

Standing Together for Football - Let's Keep the Game Beautiful ⚽️ This past Sunday, September 1st, 2024, we witnessed an incredible match between FCK and Brøndby IF. The atmosphere in the stadium was electric, filled with passion and excitement that truly showcases the love for the beautiful game. However, it's important to address an unfortunate event that took place during the match. A banner displayed by a small group of Brøndby supporters promoting violence against FCK is not what football is about. Football has the power to unite communities, inspire young talents, and bring out the best in sportsmanship. It's a platform where we celebrate skill, strategy, and the sheer joy of the game. When a few individuals try to use this platform to create division and incite violence, they undermine the very essence of what football stands for. As fans, as communities, and as stakeholders in this sport, it's our responsibility to stand together and say no to violence and division. Let's support our teams with pride and passion, but always with respect for our opponents and the sport itself. Together, we can ensure that football remains a force for good, a source of joy, and a beacon of unity. Let’s keep the game beautiful. ❤️ #FootballForAll #RespectTheGame #UnitedWeStand #BrøndbyIF #FcKøbenhavn #Superliga #Danishfootball

Who will get the Lions' share?... (See also: https://lnkd.in/gFZ32_Tj ) "The British & Irish Lions has today announced details of a new player agreement which will see players selected for the 2025 Tour to Australia benefit from a PROFIT SHARE MODEL for the 1st time. The agreement will see the creation of a new partnership model whereby a PORTION OF THE DISTRIBUTABLE POST-TOUR PROFITS will be made available for sharing between players..." However this PORTION may be much less than 100%. And DISTRIBUTABLE POST-TOUR PROFITS may be much less than Total Profits. And Total Profits may be much less than Total Revenue Generated from the tour. So ideally, to maximize remuneration for their work input, players would negotiate additional payments as proportions (say of total series match minutes played) of Total Revenue Generated from future tours. However, the new current agreement does suggest a significant step improvement in player bargaining power, and move to greater incentivization and potentially performance of Lions players....(Wallabies watch out...) https://lnkd.in/gnvq_4bJ
We are pleased to announce a new player agreement, which will see players selected for the 2025 Tour to Australia benefit from a profit-share model for the first time. Find out more about the agreement here: https://lnkd.in/er-HA_R5 Rugby Players Ireland

Rugby's Breakaway League: A Legal Perspective 🏉 My initial analysis of the reported breakaway league in rugby union, considering three key legal hurdles which may need to be overcome if such a competition is to get off the ground: 1) Would World Rugby sanction the competition, and would their authorisation be required? 2) Would players remain eligible to play international rugby if they joined the breakaway league? 3) What would happen to players’ existing contracts? Let me know what you think. #Rugby #WorldRugby #SportsLaw

Admittedly, I had a knee jerk reaction when I saw all the pink and purple in the World Rugby initiative Rugby Rising Play. (Sidenote: at 42 years old I'm working on understanding my own conditioning against societally identified "girlie things".) But looking at the broader negative reactions to this promo, reinforced self-reflection regarding my initial reaction and how that conflicts with my genuine belief about the sport of rugby - Women and girls are diverse, and all types of folks play and enjoy rugby. I have arrived here: This promo video is a good reminder that we need many different paths to entry into the game that make all people and children feel comfortable to join the game. Rugby is not just about being tough, it is also about finesse, tactics, style, and evolving as a game - and for that we need all kinds of people to join. If there is a sector of girls that will see this and feel that rugby is a place where they may belong - as fans or as athletes - it is a good thing and I applaud it. Women and girls are NOT a monolith, even in a tenacious sport. Some of the best athletes I coached only ever participated in theater or cheerleading or music and they applied their focus and became amazing rugby players. We as a rugby community have to reach our hands out to every type of person and let them decide if they want to be a part of the community. This World Rugby promo is an example of that. And YES, rugby needs fans! So even when people try rugby and find that playing the sport isn't for them, there is still a place for them as a fan. As for the fandom, children - especially girls, can find strength in watching others display their toughness. We allow boys who have never played Pee-Wee Football (little kids American football) to watch and admire the NFL players each week. We see how it makes them feel powerful and confident, so why not girls and rugby? Are we, as a rugby community, defining little girls who like pink, purple, and sparkles and resigning them to be moms and caretakers only?!? If so, that is absolute rubbish. So let's broaden the circle - that's what the women+ of this game have been doing. You should continue to follow our lead.
Welcome to Rugby Rising Play 👋 This is World Rugby’s first bespoke girls' participation programme designed to support efforts in welcoming girls into rugby, whichever way they choose. The future of rugby is on the rise, are you coming? For further details, check out this link 👇 https://lnkd.in/e4NsXk7T
