Australian emergency response operations are continuing in hot and humid conditions after the devastating earthquake in Vanuatu. In total, 424 Australians, permanent residents, and approved family members have been assisted to return to Australia on six Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) flights leaving from Port Vila between 18-20 December. Two further RAAF flights are scheduled for today to continue assisting with relief efforts. Citizens and permanent residents of Australia can register with DFAT’s crisis registration portal to receive important information and updates. Those in need of emergency consular assistance can contact the 24-hour Consular Emergency Centre on +61 2 6261 3305 from overseas or 1300 555 135 in Australia. Australia stands ready to provide further support as needed and extends our condolences to the people of Vanuatu.
