The charges relate to suspicions that Paquetá may have deliberately sought yellow cards in four #PremierLeague matches, with unusual betting patterns linked to these bookings being detected in 2022. This case is part of a wider issue regarding betting violations, where football’s governing bodies have strict regulations to protect the integrity of the sport. Under both #FIFA and national associations regulations, players are prohibited from direct betting on matches (even if players are not involved in them or matches are played in a different competition entirely), manipulating specific game events (spot-fixing), or providing insider information that could impact betting markets.
