Last week, I overheard a conversation over Raine’s birthday lunch. We brought her to Legoland and invited some of her friends to have fun. During lunch, she was having a hearty talk with her friends. However, one of the discussions didn’t sit right with me. They were talking about another friend who wasn’t there. So, when we were home, I sat her down to reflect on the conversations together. I asked her if she learned anything when talking about her other friend. And whether her input helped others grow. She thought for a moment and shook her head, “No.” That moment, we decided we will talk more about things that uplift others. And less of things that don’t add any value. Every discussion is a chance to shape views. We can choose to talk about two things: Ideas or People. Discussing ideas help us see the world differently. Discussing people lets others see a person differently. Let’s always choose to build others up with our words.

Gone is the season of being a go-getter. It's the season of being a go-get-a-cup-of-chai-and-try-to-focus-on-your-work-while-the-weather-distracts-you-er.

Instead of becoming complacent, it encourages you to keep striving for growth and improvement.
