Common Changes During Aging As people grow older, their bodies go through natural changes. One of the most noticeable changes is in the skin. It starts to develop wrinkles, becomes drier, and may appear uneven. Similarly, joints, bones, and muscles also weaken. Bones may become fragile and prone to fractures, muscles can stiffen, and joint pain becomes common. Aging also affects the eyes, making it harder to see things clearly, especially up close. Hearing may decline as well, making it difficult to hear sounds clearly. Additionally, the ability to taste and smell reduces, which might affect how food tastes or smells. Apart from these visible changes, aging brings other gradual shifts. For example, reflexes become slower, and digestion takes longer. Blood vessels may lose their flexibility, which can impact circulation. Some older people may also experience weaker bladder control and challenges with memory or thinking skills. Although these changes are a normal part of aging, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, such as eating well, exercising, and staying socially active, can help manage these effects and improve quality of life. Aging is a natural process, and embracing it positively allows for a meaningful and fulfilling life. #NenoMalaysia #MobileHealthcare #SocialEnterprise #PWDEmpowerment #ClosingTheGap #Healthcare #SocialCare #GigEconomy #NenoTeam #HealthyAgeing #SeniorCare #SeniorCareAdvise #ElderlyCareMatters #SeniorCareGuide #TravellingGuide #Seniors #HealthyLiving

Mobility Monday: Why it’s important to Move Walking and Locomotion Preserving the ability to walk and move around is essential for helping residents maintain mobility and a sense of independence. Frail elderly often have physical problems that make walking difficult. Yet, many still can walk with benefit. With the aid of canes and walkers, some people with strokes, arthritis, and other handicaps can learn to walk safely. Did You Know? • For a frail person, a small gain in strength can mean the difference between dependence and independence. Exercise and activity support the strength it takes to move around on foot. • For people with swollen ankles and feet, activity can help push fluid back into the body. Activity can also help decrease the pain from swelling and reduce the risk of leg infections. • Walking the Walk Walking can be done in shorter time frames (i.e., 10 minutes) throughout the day to achieve benefits. Allow for rest periods. Watch for signs and symptoms of fatigue such as more difficulty with standing up straight or statements of feeling weak. Work on holding your head up straight as if wearing a crown, make your back straight as possible and pull your abdomen in. Did You Know? Much of what we call aging is nothing more than the accumulation of a lifetime of inactivity. Muscles shrink. Body fat increases. ... The results are an increased risk of diabetes, hypertension, and osteoporosis. By preserving muscle mass we can prevent these problems from occurring. We have several walking aides to assist you! Call or come by our Metairie showroom today and let us help continue to keep you independent and as mobile as possible. #mobilitycityofgreaterneworleans#walkingaids #mobilitysolutions#mobilityaids #agingwell #babyboomers#independentliving #assistedliving#neworleans #walkingforhealth

Prioritizing Movement in Our Daily Lives In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to forget how much sitting can impact our health. Studies show that prolonged sedentary behavior—whether at work or at home—can lead to serious health risks, including hypertension, obesity, cardiovascular issues, and even certain types of cancer. The long-term effects on our immune system and cellular health are just as concerning, with physical inactivity accelerating cellular aging. This isn't just an issue for adults; children who lead sedentary lives face an increased risk of obesity and other health challenges. Developing a healthy, active lifestyle early on is crucial. Some simple ways to add more movement to our routines: #Walk daily: Even a 20-minute walk can boost our well-being. Take the #stairs: Great for posture, muscles, and respiratory health. Choose #active #leisure: Swap screen time for hobbies that keep you moving. Replace snacks with #fruits: It’s good for both your energy and overall health. Get quality #sleep: Aim for 7–9 hours to feel refreshed, not lethargic. #Engage socially or play with pets/children: It strengthens the body and uplifts the mind. As for me, I like walking, running, boxing. #HealthTips #ActiveLifestyle #Wellbeing #Longevity #StayActive #HealthyHabits #MovementMatters #MindBodyHealth #SedentaryLifestyle #DailyWellness #HealthyLiving
