Their services are directly tied to generating income for the hospital. - Nurses, on the other hand, are often categorized as a cost rather than an asset. Their contributions, such as educating patients and providing emotional support, are more challenging to attach a monetary value to. - Hospitals driven by profit margins tend to view nurses as a labor expense rather than recognizing their critical role in patient care. 2. Nurses can provide patient-centered care to improve the patient by providing communication, providing patient education. Nurses can be involved in coordination care through care transitions and patient education. All the accessible care is required including developing new models of patient interactions, expanding the working hours, and bringing quality by improving activities and building quality improvement capability. The result can come with comprehensive care that is regular and the communication can come with the care team. The patient-centred care can increase the understanding of patient with their needs and preferences accordingly. The labs and other services can increase the linkage between the practices and services for the community. As a healthcare provider, I was quick to realize the need for adequate patient safety measures to uphold the values of care and ensure safe nursing practice. “ The World Health Organization defines patient safety as the absence of preventable harm to patients and prevention of unnecessary harm by healthcare professionals. It has been reported that unsafe care is responsible for the loss of 64 million disability-adjusted life years each year across the globe. Patient harm during the provision of healthcare is recognized as one of the top 10 causes of disability and death in the world.” (Vaismoradi et al., 2020) This means that we need to do a better job not only as individual providers but in unison as an entire nation and on a global level. In order to make an impact, nurses need to have good overall adherence to the principles of patient safety to achieve both patient and interventional success. By doing so, this will aim towards enhancing safer care and healthcare systems. “Nurses are expected to adhere to organizational strategies for identifying harms and risks through assessing the patient, planning for care, monitoring and surveillance activities, double-checking, offering assistance, and communicating with other healthcare providers.” (Vaismoradi et al., 2020) As a leader in healthcare, I will advocate for these changes by enforcing the need for successful strategies for organization in order to prevent further errors and disabilities. Being able to advocate for my patients is one of the most rewarding parts of my practice.
