Join Volunteering on (Non-Profit) Boards: How and Why to Join a Board with Ashley Ekelund on June 25!
By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:
◆ Identify different types of non-profit organizations, non-profit leadership and decision making.
◆ Assess your strengths, opportunities, and availability for various forms of volunteer work in non-profit organizations.
◆ Examine expectations and risks associated with being a Board member.
◆ Identify practical next steps to look for and select from available board opportunities.
This workshop is ideal for people who are new to the non-profit sector in British Columbia, want to develop a better understanding of its leadership and decision-making processes, and are looking for ways to engage in their communities and express their voices.
We offer this workshop for free to individuals in BC with no or limited (less than one year) experience in non-profit board governance, who are able to participate in English, and who identify as one or more of the following: Youth (aged 18-35), Indigenous, Black, Person of colour, Person with disability, 2SLGBTQIA+, or Newcomers to Canada.
