This past week we were welcomed at University College of Industrial Design Ferrol campus of University a Coruna for the SHOREWINNER (Southern European Community for Offshore Wind Energy ) project kick-start. For the next 4 years the project aims to set up and develop a Community of Practice (CoP) based on the cooperation among five Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVEs) committed to the development of skills, upskilling and reskilling of the workforce, sharing of resources, and achievement of major European goals and priorities. The CoVEs will be created in southern European countries with strong potential in the offshore energy sector (ORE): Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece and Cyprus. Each CoVE will engage industry representatives and VET institutions to collaboratively provide vocational training aligned with the needs of the local industry. The project will begin by comprehensively analyzing the global ORE needs concerning knowledge and skills gaps to design excellent VET curricula and resources in each CoVE. To foster cross-border multistakeholder cooperation, the project will set up a community of practice (CoP) for sharing knowledge, best practices and learning resources. Furthermore, the CoP will facilitate the design of joint curricula and the training for trainers, aiming for the upward convergence of the countries and partners' diverse expertise. The project consortium has 28 members, comprising vocational education providers, Higher Education Institutions, SMEs, research centres and national bodies. The CoP will play a crucial role in strengthening the cooperation for excellence between the CoVEs, facilitating stakeholders' communication and information flow, and providing a platform for sharing resources and opportunities during and after the project .Training programs, internships, workshops, and seminars will be organized to support the continuous professional development of learners and VET trainers and to meet experts from the ORE field, building relationships that can lead to job opportunities. #shorewinner hashtag #windenergy hashtag #cleanenergy hashtag #sustainability hashtag #renewableenergy hashtag #innovation hashtag #offshore hashtag #EUproject
The Southern European Community for Offshore Wind Energy (SHOREWINNER), led by P.PORTO via Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto, is one of the 15 projects with Erasmus+ funding through the CoVE (Centres of Vocational Excellence) programme. In partnership with Inova+ Innovation Services, Amar Terra Verde, the Professional Training Centre for Fisheries and the Sea, Voltalia Portugal and the Portuguese Renewable Energy Association – as well as Cypriot, Greek, Italian and Spanish institutions – the project will last four years and will be funded close to €4M. #PPORTO #PolitécnicoPorto

#RENEWAT Policy Instruments - POLAND 🌿 The "Regional Innovation Strategy for the Podkarpackie Region for 2021-2030 (RIS)" is a development program, constituting a key instrument for the implementation of priorities related to development, research, and innovation in the region. 🎯 The strategy does not consider the use of existing installations for energy production. RRDA aims to amend the strategy by discussing the possibilities of using and revitalising existing watermills to produce green energy. #renewat #GreenEurope #watermills #InterregEurope #Eu #renewableenergies

🌍 Innovative Energy Solutions and Their Global Implications 🌍 Exploring new technological frontiers in energy and waste management presents both exciting opportunities and significant challenges. Recently, Enefit, an Estonian company specializing in oil shale processing, has been at the center of global discussions on this topic. 🔍 Environmental and Legal Context: Enefit's Legal Battle in Estonia: An Estonian court has allowed Enefit to continue its operations during an ongoing legal dispute. This decision underscores the complex regulatory environment that such projects navigate. While the court's ruling enables continued operation, it emphasizes the need for stringent environmental oversight and compliance. Challenges in Utah: In the U.S., Enefit faced substantial regulatory challenges that ultimately led to the abandonment of its project in Utah. The difficulties in meeting environmental standards highlight the broader issues of sustainability and regulatory compliance that accompany such ambitious technological endeavors. ⚖️ Global and Local Implications: Economic and Environmental Viability: The long-term sustainability of oil shale processing and similar technologies remains a subject of intense debate. Despite technological advancements, ensuring these projects are both economically viable and environmentally responsible is crucial. Lessons for Israel and Beyond: The experiences of Enefit provide valuable insights for other countries exploring similar technologies. It is essential to evaluate these initiatives within the broader context of global environmental standards and local sustainability goals. 🔧 Conclusion: Innovative approaches to energy and waste management offer significant potential but must be pursued with careful consideration of their long-term impacts. As countries like Israel continue to explore new technological solutions, aligning these efforts with sustainable and responsible practices is vital for ensuring a better future. Let’s continue the conversation on how we can innovate responsibly for a better future. 🌱💡 #Sustainability #Innovation #WasteManagement #EnergySolutions #EnvironmentalImpact #Technology

How can green electrification deliver a more resilient and just energy system and society? Read more to find out how our project 2IMATCH tackles this question. Green electrification offers considerable resilience benefits. These include, for example, the use of domestically available renewable resources and a networked structure that allows to combine large-scale infrastructures with small-scale decentralized ones effectively. However, this networked structure brings forth new vulnerabilities that need to be solved (e.g. cyberthreats, geoeconomic rivalry, and socioeconomic consequences). This research project focuses on the development of new and refurbished energy infrastructure and institutional adaptation and innovation. We study the implications of new energy infrastructure, the policies, regulations and business solutions that could best support the development of a resilient and just energy system. The 2IMACTH project combines the expertise of Tampere University (Unit of Politics and Unit of Industrial Engineering and Management), the Finnish Environment Institute (Syke) - Suomen ympäristökeskus (Syke), Finnish Institute of International Affairs - FIIA, The University of Lapland (Faculty of Law), and VTT Technical Research Ltd. We will post news on our work through this site. Follow here to learn more.
