🌟 Spreading Warmth and Hope This Winter 🌟 As the year comes to a close, NETAND has been actively supporting meaningful causes to give back to the community. Recently, we joined the "Warm Child" campaign with the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation, providing heating equipment, winter clothing, and energy subsidies to children and families in need during Korea’s harsh winters. This donation is part of our broader year-end giving initiatives, which also include supporting childcare and disability facilities, as well as participating in various volunteer activities. At NETAND, we are committed to fostering brighter futures and contributing to the well-being of our communities. Let’s work together to make this season warmer and more hopeful for those in need. 💚 Read full article: https://lnkd.in/guwCF9RE #NETAND #WarmChildCampaign #ESG #CommunitySupport #YearEndGiving #SocialImpact

Imagine starting this weekend not knowing if you will have a reliable power source or even any power at all. Imagine being in a location this weekend where the very building you are in might need to be evacuated at any moment because bombs are about to drop. Now imagine this, not only this weekend, but as a current daily constant. And now finally imagine all of that and being a child 😢 I was on a call today speaking with Care in Action, the charity we are looking to support as part of our three peaks challenge https://lnkd.in/e6yPq4pf and it really hits home when they start off the call by saying we apologise if you cannot see or hear us as we are having power issues and the nature of why those power issues are occurring. Now Care in Action does great work for children regardless of the current conflict in the region, in terms of their Ukraine operation, but now with the conflict it has added an extra dimension to an already difficult task. So I ask for anyone that can, if you could look to help us support this great cause by going to our Just Giving page below: https://lnkd.in/eAvwFXAi Now you may be wondering how much of an impact can you make, well to put it into perspective as little as 20 pounds can allow for 20 children to partake in a therapy session led by a qualified therapist. So the age old adage of every little helps, really does apply here. If you cannot donate, then a friendly spread the word is all I ask. I really don't like to go cap in hand but I think we can all agree that any cause that is for the betterment of the children of our world, is a worthy cause indeed. #threepeaks #threepeakschallenge #careinaction

Today is an important day in the Australian calendar. A very important day especially for the cyber security and network industry. 👩💻 Cyber security professionals battle with the stress and anxiety of a challenging industry that faces a complex array of competing forces. It is no secret that the burnout problem affects people at all levels (see the Sophos report, 'The cybersecurity kids aren't alright'). So I try to live and breathe the RUOK? message. 😎 We have our RUOK? conversation poster proudly at our door, all year 'round because it's not just about asking when something doesn't look right, it's about making sure that the conversation and the invitation to share is always there. 🤗 Today we invited all of the tenants of the two commercial towers we work in to join us for a coffee so that we could share the great work that the RUOK? organisation does, and to help support the great work they do. The crowd favourite was the conversation starter bingo. ☕ Why am I sharing this? Because today I saw a few conversations where people were not OK and they got the chance to talk about it. A chance that might not have presented if not for asking the question today. I have also seen 'influential' LinkedIn figures accuse organisations of well-washing by posting about RUOK? day today. Some of it may well be well-washing or wellbeing washing. But if any of it gives someone a chance to share that they're not ok, or gives someone the confidence to know that they can share how they're feeling in their workplace if they are ever not ok, then it is worth every pixel in your LinkedIn feed. A huge Kudos to Geoff Huxtable today for the work you did on uplifting the capability of so many people to have an RUOK? conversation. Finally, we raised a little bit of money for R U OK? today. But in case you don't know how to donate, just visit: https://lnkd.in/grBrix-E

Our team has been busy again this year demonstrating how open source research methods can be used to investigate issues around the globe. 🌍 We followed the incomparable scale of destruction in Gaza (https://lnkd.in/ew6yE8Yh ) and the flattening of cities in Ukraine (https://lnkd.in/encb9_Tp ). Monitored attacks by armed groups in Burkina Faso (https://lnkd.in/gAbijjxn ) and developments in the civil war in Sudan (https://lnkd.in/eExz4fsC ). We've seen large scale protests against governments arise throughout the 12 months from South Asia (https://lnkd.in/eNWkgxeb ) to Africa (https://lnkd.in/geiQS7sW ) and world power change hands (https://lnkd.in/g4XAmRcj ). From environmental disasters in February (https://lnkd.in/gK37Wqes ) to missile strikes on children's hospitals in July (https://lnkd.in/e93Efpsp ) , 2024 has been a year marked by political upheaval and unprecedented conflict. As we move into 2025, we will continue to monitor ongoing crises using all of the open source tools at our disposal. You can support that ongoing work by donating to our research efforts. We are a not-for profit and the ability to carry out our work is dependent on the kind support of individual donors. https://lnkd.in/gvVdCiEB

Have close to 17 years in the same company made me a silver fox? Absolutely not! I am getting older, but the main reason for this look is the terrorist in the east (Putin). I started to grow the beard more than 2 years ago to create awareness of the brutal war in Ukraine. I decided to use most of my spare time and lots of my resources to support people in Ukraine (including soldiers), and refugees coming to Norway. Together with my family I have collected and shipped a lot of donations, and last weekend I received this silver fox fur coat (among more valuable coats). I am struggling to find a way to exchange these nice and beautiful coats to something more useful or critical for those who need our help. I have earlier shipped first aid equipment and received feedback that it contributed to save life. I have also funded medicine for old people (internal refugees), equipment for hospitals, a firetruck etc. This silver fox coat may keep a person warm during winter, but I hope I manage to sell it. Are you interested to support? So, I am still in the people business, supporting Wärtsilä during work hours, and helping refugees in the afternoon and in the weekends. I find both my work and the time spent as volunteer, very meaningful. If it makes me a silver fox, that is a price I am willing to pay. Too many are focusing only on profit and cost. The value of helping other people to survive, or to get a better life when they face a crisis, cant be measured in money. At work we can talk a lot about wellbeing, but in the bigger picture many leaders are "forced" to see employees as a cost - even before they consider what value they bring to the company and the company culture. Do you care for your colleague or your neighbour? Do you reach out a hand when you see someone who may need your help? If you are too busy with your own life, I recommend to take a break and look around you. I am sure you can bring value to another persons life. I recommend you all to try! #standwithukraine #noshaveforukraine

Today is #GivingTuesday! On this global day of giving, you can make a difference for clients like Darren. Darren is a former Marine who came to Volunteer Lawyers for Justice seeking assistance with restoring his driver’s license. Darren was stationed in Japan and in 2011, the earthquake and tsunami that hit damaged several nuclear reactors, causing a meltdown and release of radioactive debris. Assigned to provide immediate assistance and clean up, the radiation Darren absorbed severely damaged his body. After leaving the Marines, Darren faced significant challenges, including homelessness, incarceration, and deteriorating health. Making matters worse, Darren’s exposure to the radiation in Japan saw him diagnosed with bone cancer, skin cancer, liver cancer, and lung cancer. While many in Darren’s shoes would have given up, he was determined to be there for his young daughter. Eventually, Darren made his way to VLJ for help with restoring his driver’s license. While volunteer attorneys were working on Darren’s case, his health took a turn. Fearing the worst, Darren worked with VLJ and his volunteers to create and execute estate planning documents should the unfortunate need arise. Thankfully, that didn’t occur, and with his health improving, Darren is one step closer to being back on the road to stability. Thanks to generous support from donors like you, VLJ clients are receiving life-changing legal help. But, Americans with no- and low-incomes do not get any or enough legal help for 92% of their substantial civil legal problems, meaning more neighbors and community members have to navigate the legal system alone. Today on GivingTuesday, give the gift of justice so they don’t have to. 🔗Donate here: vljnj.org/year-end-2024 #VLJNJ #GiveJustice #RadicalGenerosity #A2J #ProBono #FreeLegalHelp #FreeLegalServices #LegalAid #NewJersey

Sir Keir Starmer: This year, we celebrate Passover under a dark cloud ‘I know how painful and challenging these past few months have been’ . . . Passed down from generation to generation, each Seder night is a chance to reflect on the deliverance of the Jewish people from slavery to freedom. I want to send warm wishes to the entire Jewish community over Pesach. Families across the country, including my own, will come together this week for a Seder meal . . . it’s a chance for different generations to bond over profound traditions & teachings. I have fond memories of celebrating Passover with my own children. The values of Pesach are not just on display this week, but all year round. Events like Mitzvah Day, supporting charities & community projects, show compassion & solidarity in action. . . The Haggadah says that “in every generation each individual is bound to regard himself as if he personally had gone forth from Egypt”. I know that for many Jews across Britain this translates into a strong commitment to welcoming those fleeing conflict. . . But I recognise, too, that we mark this Passover under a dark cloud. I know how painful and challenging these past few months have been for the Jewish community. 6 months since the appalling October 7 attacks, the ongoing & escalating conflict in the Middle East makes this year’s Passover feel very different to the last. In particular, for anyone with family or friends in the region, this is an uncertain & worrying time. They rightly wish for a secure future for their loved ones, with the security of knowing the horrors of October 7 cannot happen again. They rightly wish for the return of all hostages still being held who are unable to celebrate Pesach with their families this year. And we condemn the Iranian regime’s reckless decision to subject Israelis to unacceptable attacks. We continue to stand up for Israel’s security . . It is clear that the overwhelming mood across our Jewish community, & across all our communities, is a desire for peace. For an end to the fighting, for the release of the hostages & for a major inflow of aid to address the growing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Once this is achieved, we must look to how we can build a just & lasting peace out of the horrors of this war. This can only happen with a clear pathway to a ❗️"2-state solution"❗️. . . Here in the UK, British Jewish life must be able to thrive, & you should never have to live in fear. This country is enriched by our Jewish community in so many ways . . . So, there must be zero tolerance for antisemitism, wherever it rears its head. Antisemitism is a poison that must never be ignored or downplayed. . . And it is that sense of renewal, of course, which is so central to the Passover story. So, from my family to yours, Chag Sameach. https://lnkd.in/gwQ3tXF5
