Network Rail’s Post

On Sunday 15 December 2024 the Northumberland Line reopened to passengers for the first time in 60 years. The project has been delivered by Northumberland County Council , Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom, us at Network Rail and Northern working in partnership. The new service will run every half hour, taking 35 minutes from Ashington to Newcastle, bringing the local community much improved connectivity to jobs, education and leisure opportunities, and a more sustainable way to travel. Initially, two new stations are opening on the line at Ashington and Seaton Delaval, with four further stations at Bedlington, Blyth Bebside, Newsham and Northumberland Park opening during 2025.
