"I RAN AWAY from electronics in my first year, only to understand its actual potential, which CHANGED my life and career." - Manas Tripathi Every student, regardless of the college they are at, needs opportunities to prove themselves. But the problem is, in India, this is how most students choose their branch: They observe what their friends and other classmates are picking. They are heavily affected by fake social media experts. They believe that whatever is trending is their passion. They are influenced by the opinions of society. Let me tell you my personal experience. ALL of my first year friends who took computer science, NONE of them have done any internship (and they are in their 4th year now scared of not getting a job). I am not saying that computer science doesn't have opportunities. The issue is that none of my friends have the necessary skills to compete in the difficult employment market. I don't hate my friends but this is the reality . They used to scare me by saying things like, "You won't get a job if you don't know how to code." WHAT IF the thing you are passionate about and the thing you are good at are different?? BUT for the students in core branches, IT'S YOUR TIME AGAIN. Choose something that allows you to survive. Don't fall behind everyone. You do not know what they are good at. Be selfish about your career. Always do your own research before choosing anything. International Internships can help you stand out. BUT, choosing the appropriate mentor and program is also important. Analyse all rejections and leverage the power of networking. Writing cold emails will not land you an internship. Write a dedicated cold email. If you're just copy-pasting the same stuff into each email, you're just FOOLING yourself.
