This vibrant public space was a busy traffic intersection not too long ago. Today, it is a place for: ✅Socializing with your neighbors ✅Teaching your kid to ride a bike ✅Buying healthy food at the local farmers market ✅Children playing ✅Community organizing and democratic participation. I saw all of this today in just one Barcelona Superblock intersection, just as Salvador Rueda had envisioned. I could not help but thinking about his lecture on this topic and appreciate how his ideas have transformed a physical and material reality of the city. 1. Right to leisure and play 2. Right to democratic participation 3. Right to physical activity & health 4. Right to exhange and markets 5. Right to mobility This change is possible by simply preventing the 'Right to Mobility' erase all other activities from city streets.
