Solar park in China generates 1.7 GWh of electricity - day and night! Great news for alternative food & material as most of the technologies need a lot of energy. But how is this possible? The #bioeconomy operates with #fermentation , #cellularagriculture , #biorefinery and other energy-intense technologies. Key sustainability enabler is access to cheap and lots of renewable energy. There are lots of large-scale projects around the world but one tops them all. The Aksai Huidong New Energy #solar park in Gansu, China, is a pioneering project in the solar energy industry and the largest of its kind in the country. It combines #CSP technology and conventional #photovoltaics to generate electricity that is also available outside of sunshine hours. The project consists of an array of 11,960 heliostats, large computerized mirrors that constantly adjust to the position of the sun to focus the #sunlight onto the receiver on the tower. The receiver uses a mixture of salts to absorb the sun's energy and produce vapour, which drives a turbine to generate electrical #energy. A major advantage of the solar park is the ability to store #heat energy in thermal storage tanks to generate electricity even after sunset or when it is cloudy. The project combines a 110 MW solar #power tower and a 640 MW photovoltaic system to maximize the efficiency and reliability of power generation. The solar farm is expected to generate 1.7 GWh of electricity annually, which equates to a significant reduction in dependence on fossil fuels and a reduction in carbon emissions of approximately 1.47 million tonnes per year, equivalent to afforesting nearly 800 million square metres. Do you know of similar projects? I look forward to your comment! Find more details in the article in the comments. #renewableenegery #renewable #energytransition #biotechnology

Actions speaks louder than words! Yesterday, we took another significant step on our way to fully decarbonize our own operations by 2030 at the latest, when we signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) that will secure the supply of renewable power to all our operations in Haiyan, China by 1 January 2025. This agreement delivers a 33% reduction of our own emissions in China – corresponding to 9% of our global emissions. With this agreement in place, we have now decarbonized 60% of all our operations in China, and we are working hard on the remaining 40%. The renewable electricity will be supplied by a local newly constructed solar and wind park. The PPA-agreement comes on top of our efforts the last 8 years, where we have focused on reducing and reusing the energy consumption in our Haiyan factories. This has led to an amazing 59% increase in energy productivity (output from our factories vs. total energy used) and demonstrates that GREEN GROWTH is indeed possible. It's about applying Danfoss’ 3-step approach #Reduce, #Reuse and Re-source combined with using many of Danfoss’ own products and solutions. This is the cost-optimal way to decarbonize industries. Proud to be part of a company who aims high also when it comes to sustainability and is capable of delivering on the promise. #Sustainability #EnergyEfficiency #GreenTransition #WhyEE

China has an installed solar capacity of approximately 710 gigawatts (GW), reflecting its position as the global leader in solar energy. 🌞 🌞 🌞 👊 👊 China's impressive solar capacity is achieved through various approaches, not limited to vast open spaces. While large solar farms are a major component, other strategies also contribute significantly: 1. Solar Farms in Arid Regions: Many of China's solar farms are located in sparsely populated desert areas, such as the Gobi Desert, where land availability is less of an issue. 2. Rooftop Solar Systems: China has heavily invested in distributed solar systems on rooftops in urban and rural areas. These installations reduce the reliance on open land by utilizing residential, commercial, and industrial building rooftops 3. Floating Solar Farms: To further maximize space, China has pioneered floating solar farms on reservoirs, lakes, and even disused coal mines. These projects, like the massive floating solar plant in Anhui Province, are innovative uses of water bodies 4. Integration with Agriculture: In agricultural regions, solar panels are integrated into farmland, allowing for dual use of the land eg, solar panels above crops #Solar #Renewables #SolarKingAgency

We are expanding our sustainability footprint in China with the acquisition of 75 MWp of rooftop solar assets from Pufeng Xunlian Investment (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. The rooftop PV assets are located across multiple provinces such as Anhui, Guizhou, Hebei, Heilongjiang, Henan, Hubei, and Shanxi, and will provide green energy to industries such as the manufacturing of automobile parts and metal fabrication. These renewable energy assets will generate more than 75 GWh of green electricity annually, helping China to avoid more than 44,000 tonnes in carbon emissions each year. With this acquisition, we have a total of 1.3 GW of solar projects in China, across 18 provinces and municipalities. This is part of our overall strategy to support China’s clean energy targets by helping the country’s energy-intensive manufacturing facilities, commercial estates and industrial parks to go green.
