The blog is based on the recently published study in Nature Portfolio Sustainability highlighting a critical disconnect: while European cities often prioritize long-term environmental goals like biodiversity and transportation, residents tend to focus on socio-economic concerns such as cost of living, public health, and employment. The findings underline an essential point: for urban sustainable development to be effective, it must align with residents' priorities. By addressing basic needs alongside ambitious sustainability goals, cities can foster public acceptance, avoid political backlash, and ensure equitable energy transitions. 👉 Link in the comments!
