Interested in a fully funded interdisciplinary #PhD on Socially intelligent cities learning from insect hearing systems? Join us in a #webinar to learn more about the Leverhulme Doctoral School for Nature inspired acoustics co-led by experts in #engineering, #architecture, #chemistry and #business studies. This is a fully funded PhD opportunity within the Leverhulme Doctoral School in Nature Inspired Acoustics (nia-leverhulme.org.uk). The PhD focuses on study of hearing systems found in nature to help develop #sociallyintelligent ways to manage resources in #cities. Management of Energy and Water Infrastructures in buildings and cities pose multiple conflicting and interconnected challenges. This project would develop a first of a kind intelligent multidimensional communication system for socially smart urban energy and water management drawing on visual-spatial intelligence. I am pleased to share our latest scholarly contribution, an article titled "Exploring Safety Determinants in Historic Urban Areas of Iran: An Artificial Neural Network Study in Ardakan Historic Fabric," published by the esteemed publisher Routledge in the Journal of Urbanism. This study investigates the critical factors influencing safety within historical urban contexts, emphasizing the complex relationship between environmental characteristics and urban safety. Utilizing rigorous research methodologies, including machine learning and artificial neural networks, this work aims to illuminate the intricacies of safety determinants in Ardakan's historic fabric. By analyzing various elements such as spatial layout, socio-economic factors, and historical architecture, our research seeks to enhance the understanding of safety dynamics in heritage urban environments. I invite you to access the article via the following link: [https://lnkd.in/ds2DAGQN]. We hope that our findings will contribute to more informed decision-making in urban planning and heritage conservation, ultimately fostering safer and more sustainable historical urban spaces.

Research through Case studies involves identifying a single case to gain a deep understanding of a complex issue related to the case and generate insights that may be applicable in other contexts. The typical process is outlined below: - Pick a Case - Gather related qualitative data - Analyse the data to identify character traits - Present findings as a narrative - Conclude and consider wider applications in practice. I hope you find this useful as you prepare for your research projects ⭐ #masters #dissertationhelp #research #architecture #student
A summary of Architectural Research Methods. In preparation for a master's dissertation this summer, we are looking at the seven research strategies. The strategies below cover other fields outside of #architecture and may be useful to other students preparing for research: - Historical Research - Qualitative Research - Correlational Research - Experimental and Quasi-experimental research - Simulation Research - Logical Argumentation - Case studies and Combined Strategies I will be making a post to summarise each of the strategies individually, explaining how they may be implemented in your #research. Architectural Research Methods (Book) by Linda Groat and David Wang is a useful tool to take on your research journey.

If you are considering the #Qualitative route here's what to consider 👇: The study focuses on the subject in its natural setting, with subjective meanings drawn from the experiences and the interactions surrounding them. With that in mind, the data collected will mainly be 'primary' and empirical in nature. Example: direct observations, interviews etc. You can consider the study of architectural space and the natural behavioural patterns around it in the real world as an example of a Qualitative analysis. Finally, generate a theory based on the above observations and test it with empirical data to ground it. I hope you find this useful when preparing to conduct your written piece of research 🌟 #architecture #dissertationwriting #masters #student
