Over the past 10 days , we had the pleasure of engaging in meaningful family-centered social responsibility activities that truly brought our families closer. Last week, we welcomed 60 kids to our offices for a Scientists Day event, organized in collaboration with Ofanim NGO and Spirala. The children enjoyed an inspiring morning filled with excitement, from solving riddles in an escape room to conducting hands-on scientific experiments and exploring their creativity. This week, we had the honor of visiting ‘Beit Apel boarding school’ for a carpentry workshop with parents and their youths who are soon join the army. It was a special opportunity to work together and creating something tangible and lasting. We extend our best wishes to these young adults for a safe and effective service! Thanks to everyone who participated and made these events such a success🌟 #SocialResponsibility #CommunityEngagement #FamilyFirst #Inclusion #CSR #NDSpirit

Today, on World Children's Day, I want to shine a light on the resilience and potential of Pashtun children across The Durand Line (Pak-Afghan). Despite facing numerous challenges, including limited access to education and opportunities, these young minds continue to shine bright. However, it's unacceptable that many Pashtun children are still denied their fundamental right to education. The lack of schools and resources in their communities is a stark reminder of the inequality and injustice that persists. As a global community, we must come together to ensure that every child, regardless of their background or ethnicity, has access to quality education and opportunities to thrive. Let's raise our voices and support organizations working tirelessly to build schools and provide resources to Pashtun children. Together, we can break down barriers and unlock the full potential of these young change-makers. #WorldChildrensDay #PashtunChildren #EducationForAll #EmpoweringYoungMinds

*Why We Do What We Do: Jeneane’s Story* You’ve heard us share quotes from students, teachers, and parents who’ve experienced the magic of our workshops. But today, we’re turning the spotlight on our own team—asking them to share their “Why.” What brought them to ATOU? What keeps them here, giving their hearts and energy to something bigger than themselves? Jeneane Stover, our incredible Volunteer Coordinator, shares her personal journey and the powerful reason she’s part of the ATOU family: “My ‘Why’ has always been, and continues to be, changing the way people see individuals who seem different. This began over 20 years ago when ATOU came to my daughter Hanah’s school. Hanah, who has an intellectual disability and is autistic, struggled as a child—sometimes reacting in frustration when she couldn’t communicate or feeling overwhelmed by loud noises. Her delays in processing what was being said often made things even harder. But I always knew if people had the chance to really see Hanah, to understand the amazing, funny, and caring person behind those moments of overstimulation, they’d see the true her. Not the girl they might glimpse from a distance at the mall or playground, but a beautiful soul reacting to a world that doesn’t always make sense to her." Jeneane’s journey with Hanah reminds us all of the deep empathy that can grow from understanding—not just for people with disabilities, but for anyone navigating challenges we may not see on the surface. This is why we do what we do. #ATOUStrong #ATOUFamily #Ignitingrespect #BuildingEmpathy #makingadifference #Disabilityawareness #Changinglives

5 Commandments for Effective Youth Engagement At Pawlehouse Company, we have learnt that young people ignore causes that ignore them - those that tell them what to do. Those that frame them as vulnerable and needing 'empowerment'. As the largest cohort in history, young people remain the most formidable agents of change, at scale and speed. We have simplified our lessons into 5 commandments when it comes to persuading them to rally behind a cause. Let us know what you think. https://lnkd.in/d7uXEj-F

[143/365] It takes everyone to raise a child. The oft-repeated truism of "it takes a village to raise a child" understates the importance of clarifying the roles stakeholders play when doing so. Parents are not the child's teachers. Teachers are not the child's parents. Both play unique yet complementary roles in nurturing the whole child. ---------- Some hard questions should be addressed: 1️⃣ Do we agree on the desired outcomes for the child? 2️⃣ What do we actually mean when we say "home-school partnership"? 3️⃣ Who is more responsible in shaping the child's values? 4️⃣ What happens when a stakeholder is unwilling/unable to play their part? ---------- Ministry of Education, Singapore (MOE), in partnership with Whitehatters Limited, is seeking feedback from parents and educators to co-create the future of home-school partnerships (see post below). I hope a diversity of voices and opinions will get involved, rather than just the motivated minority. If you are interested, you can sign up via https://lnkd.in/gUsM9XEh Shahrany Hassan
