When someone is venting, talking about a problem, etc., and you're unsure what to do.... try asking the following question: how can I best support you right now? (if you are willing and able to support them in that moment). Watch what happens....

Anything worth doing is worth doing badly. Even this post. Ok, let's be honest with one another. It's better to do the essential things BADLY than do ANYTHING ELSE with excellence. Do this 3 minute exercise and you'll see what I mean. Get out paper, or a Word doc, etc. At the top answer this question: what is the one MOST IMPORTANT result/outcome I'm trying to create right now, or problem I'm trying to solve? Now below it, make a list of what you did this week. Now for the painful honesty part. How much of the list is directly moving the needle on the MOST IMPORTANT THING? Why? That thing is HARD to solve. The only way to solve it is to do it BADLY at first. But doing things badly is NO FUN! (In the beginning) Resonate with you? Comment one thing you are going to take action on.

Listening: "𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘥𝘰 𝘐 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘱 𝘮𝘺𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘫𝘶𝘮𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘷𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘮𝘴?" Well, you ask yourself some questions first: What am I currently doing? When? With who? And Why? And you answer them without judgement. Freeing yourself up to get to the guts of the problem. ----- So, what are you going to find? In general, some personal needs you're trying to meet within certain conversations, and/or with certain people, that usually fall under one of two categories: There's something you're trying to 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲 There's something you're trying to 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁 ----- Now you see the true picture. And now you have some real stuff to work with. PS If you're even asking that opening question, you're already a long way there.

Question: What do you do when you don't understand what someone is talking about but you're too afraid to ask a dumb question for fear of looking dumb? 😪 Answer: Just ask the damn dumb question! 💪

What’s separating you from where you want to be is... An inability to do the obvious and unordinary for an extraordinary amount of time. If you followed your own advice you’d be ahead of where you already are. Here’s the truth… You already know what to do: You know the steps. You know the methods. You know there’s no hidden secrets. So, what’s holding you back from doing the things you know need to be done?

Sometimes it’s hard to know how to check in with someone. Here are some different ideas to try, depending on what someone’s going through 📱 P.S. If someone doesn’t want to talk, try not to pressure them. Reassuring them you’ll be there when they’re ready to talk can be helpful.
