"Empowering Conversations: From Farm Bills to Women's Rights and Beyond"🚀 Hey there, LinkedIn community! In our recent discussions, we explored the diverse benefits of hemp, sugarcane, and even delectable insects, shedding light on their potential when utilized wisely. Now, let's shift our focus to recent developments in rights, voting, military service, and beyond. As we continue our conversation during Women's History Month and reflect on International Women's Day, it's crucial to address concerning trends in certain states where abortion and miscarriage rights are being challenged. These developments underscore the ongoing battle for reproductive rights and the importance of advocating for gender equality. In a recent response from Representative Donald Payne regarding the 2023 Farm Bill, we see a commitment to supporting federal agricultural policies that prioritize sustainability, food assistance programs, and rural development. However, challenges such as attempts to cut SNAP funding highlight the ongoing struggle to combat hunger and food insecurity in our communities. In the spirit of advocacy, I've included links to petitions in my comments for those interested in taking action. Remember, every voice matters in shaping our nation's policies and priorities. As we navigate these complex issues, let's remember the words of Maya Angelou: "We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value, no matter their color." Thank you for your engagement and dedication to creating positive change. Together, we can empower voices, advocate for justice, and shape a brighter future for all. #AdvocacyMatters #EqualityForAll 🗳️ #Empowerment #SocialJustice 🌟 #VoiceForChange 📢 #StandUpForJustice ⚖️ #CommunityEngagement 🤝 #MakingADifference 💪🏽 🌟🗳️ *Representative Donald Payne's Contact Information: ~Twitter: @RepDonaldPayne ~Website: payne.house.gov ~If you need help with a federal agency and are in urgent need of assistance, you may contact: ✓Newark District Office: (973) 645-3213 ✓Jersey City District Office: (201) 369-0392 And remember, your voice matters. It's #WearAndShareWednesday! in support of the Moose Hide Campaign! The Moose Hide Campaign began as a BC-born Indigenous-led grassroots movement to engage men and boys in ending violence towards women and children. A cornerstone of the Moose Hide Campaign is the moose hide pin. Wearing the pin signifies your commitment to honour, respect, and protect the women and children in your life and speak out against gender-based and domestic violence. To date, over five million moose hide pins have been distributed free of charge to communities, schools, and workplaces across Canada. Did You Know: 🧡 Half of all women in Canada have experienced at least one incident of physical or sexual violence since the age of 16 🧡 Spousal violence of Indigenous women is three times higher than non-Indigenous women 🧡 A woman or girl is murdered every two and a half days in Canada 🧡 Indigenous women are killed at six times the rate of non-Indigenous women BENEFITS OF YOUR PARTICIPATION 🔶 Helping end violence. Participating in the campaign signals your community or organization’s commitment to standing up against violence towards women and children. 🔶 Creating safe spaces and workplaces. Your organization, workplace, or community can utilize the campaign to raise awareness about gender-based violence and help create environments that are free from harassment and violence. 🔶 A low-cost option with big returns. Cost-free resources and events like moose hide pins make participating in the campaign easy and cost-effective for your organization. 🔶 Supporting reconciliation. Involvement in the Campaign promotes implementation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action and the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Participating in the Moose Hide Campaign also demonstrates commitment to addressing the tragic reality of missing or murdered Indigenous women and girls in Canada and the Calls for Justice of the National Inquiry. 🔶 Promoting cultural sensitivity and anti-racism. The Campaign helps increase cultural sensitivity and understanding of the intergenerational impacts of colonization and residential schools. It is a practical and effective way to help address racism against Indigenous peoples. 🔶 Empowering professional development. Engaging in the Moose Hide Campaign and particularly the annual gatherings helps individuals gain experience in cross-cultural relations and build tangible skills to promote violence-free spaces. 🔶 Encouraging healthy masculinity. The campaign is an effective way to help guide men and boys in developing healthy behaviours and concepts of masculinity. Share the pin and start the conversations. Order them for free! Thoughts from “Can we all, have it all?” TED talk by Anne-Marie Slaughter https://lnkd.in/gzCk63qK Slaughter introduces the idea that achieving "it all" requires redefining success on an individual level. She emphasizes that our definitions of success should not be limited to traditional markers such as career achievements and titles. Instead, they should encompass personal growth, well-being, relationships, and more. The other half of equality- Equality does not mean valuing women on male terms, means creating a range of equally acceptable choices for men and women. What do you think? Do you build your life around work, or work around your life? #worklifebalance #findyouoasis #workingmom #womenatwork

I discuss the bear in the forest meme and share some thoughts around how men’s awareness around their own entitlement and relationship with women needs to fundamentally change. This meme is an indicator of that need for change. https://lnkd.in/gnFhE-qW #menswork #relationshipskillsmatter #relationshipskills #maleprivilege

In less than a month, Mexico is heading to the polls for a historic presidential election. For the first time, the two main contenders are women, ensuring that Mexico will soon welcome its first woman president. In his latest insight, Felix Delgado Elizundia explores the energy-related proposals by each candidate and evaluates the impact each of their plans will have in total renewable buildout over the next decade. Claudia Sheinbaum and Xóchitl Gálvez bring distinct approaches to supporting the energy transition. Sheinbaum aims to prioritize the state-owned energy company, whereas Gálvez advocates for more private sector participation. Both are committed to advancing Mexico's energy transition but may face challenges meeting renewable energy goals due to the current administration’s policies and regulatory alignment. Despite these hurdles, the emphasis on renewable energy marks a crucial step towards achieving a cleaner and more diverse power mix in Mexico. This election is not just a milestone for gender equality, but also a pivotal moment for the country's energy future. #MexicoElection2024 #EnergyTransition #RenewableEnergy #HistoricalMoment #SustainableFuture https://lnkd.in/dk-e_xan?
