I’m really in awe to see so many wealthy women organizing and chairing events for Hawai’i (*insert group*) for Harris. It got me thinking- how powerful it could be to also focus on increasing the involvement of diverse women in local politics right here in Hawai’i. In the lead-up to this year's primary elections, female candidates raised an average of $23,492, while men raised twice as much. The largest gap between male and female candidates was in individual contributions, where women raised only 23% of total individual donations. There’s a strong focus on advocating for a female president but it raises the question: how do you address the treatment of women in leadership positions within your own local community? Within your organization? High-profile advocacy is very demure, very classy… But I hope the commitment for progress isn’t just a trend/ cause du jour but something that sticks and drives lasting impact, both nationally and locally.

#GivingTuesday is an important day for nonprofits. It's one where they not only receive a lot of donations (which are needed to continue to do the work they set out to do) but also a way to highlight how people in the local community can participate in their mission beyond financial support. We love to partner with organizations doing work that aligns with our company values. Dana N., our founder, shares a little bit about her background and our why and shares a few organizations we love. Women Unite! — creating powerful tools that grow impact from fundraising and communications to visual identity and design. believing in the power of women. Girls on the Run International — helping girls gain skills to build their confidence, develop meaningful relationships, and discover the joy of movement for long-term health Helping Women Period — Addressing period poverty through the provision of no-cost menstrual products to those in need 500 Women Scientists — Make science open, inclusive, & accessible; transform society by fighting racism, patriarchy & oppressive societal @And Rise — Latina-led org empowering women to rise above trauma A long Walk Home — A Chicago-based art organization that empowers young people to end violence against all girls and women

You know those movie moments when the small town team gets the big-time donation that changes everything? Well, guess what? It's not just for reel life anymore. The Malone Center has just received a wholesome donation to continue providing support to Black women during childbirth. Don't get misty-eyed just yet, this isn't a scene from a heartwarming Hollywood drama, it's a real-life spark of hope.👏 Why's this a headline though? Well, despite the 21st-century advancements, racial disparities in maternal health are still as stark as ever. This donation, albeit a small step, is a catalyst for big, imperative changes that we need to see. Just imagine — a world where every mother gets the support, care and dignity they deserve during one of life’s most profound moments. It's not as far-fetched as it sounds, and news like this is the proof. Kudos to the all the heroes fighting to make this dream a reality. Stunned? Inspired? Curious? You must be! But don't just sit there wondering. Get the whole scoop here: [Article Link](https://lnkd.in/gp-fgFC7) Follow me if you're ready to see the world with a new perspective and stay illuminated about things that truly matter. It's more than just a follow, it's a step towards changing the world, one post at a time. Keep shining, people, and here's to more good news! 🙏 #donation #maternalhealth #change #socialjustice

Community! We need your help to support women of color to reclaim their narratives, own their truths, and push back against a political and social landscape bent on attack. Six years ago when we began our 'this is my body' storytelling program, our first performer vulnerably shared about her decision to have an abortion. Since that first performance, we watched in outrage as the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, ending the right to an abortion that had been held for decades. And we've watched each month, each year, since then as women's bodily autonomy and our rights have been under attack. But these attacks also come in many shapes and forms, from the very first comments about our bodies. Each moment when someone tries to tell us about ourselves or lay claim to our own stories. And over the years our stories have reflected that with topics such as fatphobia, asexuality, surgery, sexual violence, invasions of privacy, eating disorders, death, and more. We began 'this is my body' as a way of pushing back against these attacks, specifically for women of color. As a way to start the conversation not at the points of infraction and violation but at the place where we own and love our bodies and stories. It is about reclamation. It is about empowerment. It is about not feeling afraid or alone. As Vina Vo and I gear up for our seventh year of programming, we believe that this work is more critical now than ever before. And we are determined to meet the needs of the moment for our communities. Today, we are launching a fundraising campaign to raise $15,000 by January 31, 2025 to fully fund our 2025 program, ensuring all costs are covered, including program fees for all participants, facilitators, venues, and materials. Every dollar amount counts to hear from necessary voices. We ask that you learn more about this work, watch our past performances, read testimonials from past participants, and share about the campaign. We also want to hear from you and what reclaiming narratives has meant for you over the years using #ThisIsOurBody. We are so grateful for all the support we have had over the years, and we welcome an expanding support network! https://lnkd.in/g6AnGX9Y #fundraiser #woc #womenofcolor

What an awesome ad by CoorDown prompting you to change your assumptions and reframe your thinking to something more positive. Unconscious bias is what this ad is tackling, based on how someone looks/acts/sounds/behaves another assumes limitations that they have, and thereby reinforce those limitations with their own actions & behaviours. #Inclusion #UnconsciousBias #MindsetMatters
AD of the day: 'Assume That I Can" - a powerful PSA for World Down Syndrome day. Negative assumptions about people with Down syndrome lead us to treat them in such a way that these assumptions become reality. Nonprofit Coordown wants to reverse our perspectives.
