Dear Wavers, We need your attention for a call to action: this week tragedy hit in Eindhoven, cultural creative hotspot Het Stroomhuis went up in a blazing inferno. Het Stroomhuis was the brainchild and firstborn of New Dutch Wave-maker, family friend and inspirator since our first wave: Andre Amaro. For 25 years it was Eindhoven's creative maker-space and hot-spot with room for experiment and a connecting cultural community icon. A lab, a kitchen, a concert hall, studios, rehearsal rooms, etc. an incubator for design students, musicians and makers, a unique nest for birds of paradise is no more. But the spirit of the Stroomhuis and its users lives! And a GoFundMe has been started, and through this way we want to invite all wavers to contribute to The Future Stroomhuis... Hello Future! ✨ We are overwhelmed and thankful for the amazing news we received last week from Culturele Zaken Gemeente Utrecht and Fonds Podiumkunsten. Thanks for the trust. Thanks for the courage to support our un-disciplinary work. Both funds decided to support us in the next 4 years making it possible to realise many new projects. Together with our partners and collaborators we are looking forward to what lies ahead. This is a big and exciting step for the studio! Four tears 💧 At the same time, we are shocked by the news. More than 50 colleagues, artists and organisation whose work we respect and admire, will not receive funding from 2025. The field of arts and culture is a sensitive biotope in which the elements are related and depended on each other. Chopping some of the most impressive trees might give space ad light for the younger ones to grow; yet, it will affect the entire ecosystem and challenge the existence of its networks. Imagining a future in such precarious and unstable environment is everything but inspiring. And we know how it feels and what it’s like to get positive advice but not the money to realise the works. Been there, done that… So where do we go from here? How can we reimagine the systems of cultural funding? How to perform solidarity in theatres? How to put the money where the mouth is? We invite you to express your support via 👉 https://lnkd.in/erHwVygh #LAATHETDOEKNIETVALLEN Nederlandse Associatie voor Podiumkunsten (NAPK)

Het Parool in print from 29.02 - Interview with Andrea Voets conducted by Gina Miroula According to Voets, the radio show FOR REAL is about human dignity. The problem of women not being heard is only part of that, she says. If you are not heard, the consequences are threefold: relational (it is difficult to build meaningful relationships if others are not really interested in who you are and what you think), identity-related (you start doubting your own abilities and possibilities, and even your own desires) and existential (life is short and everyone has only one life, the frustration of disabled careers, the lack of support, opportunities, and possibilities take years off ones` life). In FOR REAL this is illustrated by an anecdote from a woman about how her own mother sacrificed her artistic talent for the sake of her family. Voets emphasises the painful and frightening aspect of the loss of opportunities for women. The passage is supported by countless other experiences that show how careers are damaged. Writer Gaea Schoeters calls this professional humiliation, a term that helps Voets identify and understand the phenomenon. Although she is not very optimistic about the future and the unequal opportunities for many, Voets works very hard, usually sixty hours a week. "In Greek, they say: if my grandmother had balls, she would have been my grandfather. The big 'if-thinking' leads nowhere. I'm a woman, but I don't care. It shouldn't matter "I want to do my very best work in this life and not be limited because I happened to be born a woman." 📅 - Tour dates: ◾ Amsterdam | 1 (sold out) & 2 March (16:00 and 20:00) - De Balie, Amsterdam ◾ Den Haag | 8 March (17:30 and 20:15) - Het Nationale Theater ◾ Mechelen (BE) | 5 May - Lunalia Festival ◾ Rotterdam | 17 & 18 May - O. festival at the Debatpodium Arminius Article Link: https://lnkd.in/eHY_R5X4

We need your help! As you might know we are currently converting our toilet into a museum. You didn’t? Well now you do ;) The museum is about SNASK 🧠 and if you don’t know SNASK, you should change that immediately. We think SNASK is super awesome and we would like to bring them to Salzburg. That’s where we need your help. SNASK is known for giving extremely inspiring talks and workshops. Therefore we are looking for agencies, studios or schools near Salzburg, interested in booking them for a talk / workshop. If you would like to have these creative rockstars, that are responsible for super awesome work for brands like Spotify, Klarna, Target or Meta, to rock your place, comment snasksome and tag your agency, studio or school. Wouldn’t that be something for you Fachhochschule Salzburg - University of Applied Sciences, Werbung Salzburg, LOOP, planetblue Marketing GmbH? If you like to know why the hell we are converting our toilet into a museum about a Swedish branding, design and communication agency and what all of that has to do with Will Ferrell, follow SNASKSEUM on Instagram. #snask #snaskseum #salzburg

💭 "How will you affect the future by what you do today?" 👋🏻 Happy Friday, LinkedIn Community! Back in May, I had the privilege of spending a lovely long weekend with a dear friend in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was my first time in the city and I loved the experience. 🎡 I spent time in Designmuseum Danmark and caught "THE FUTURE IS PRESENT" exhibit. The exhibit is divided into three themes: Human, Society and Planet+ I stood in front of this quote by DAVID SUZUKI for a long while and pondered on this quote.... "The future doesn't exist. The only thing that exists is now and our memory of what happened in the past. But because we invented the idea of a future, we’re the only animal that realized we can affect the future by what we do today." So, I'm sharing this with you today and leaving you with the question: 👉🏻 "How will you affect the future by what you do today?" Have an awesome weekend! 🙌🏻 #LeadershipWellness #MindfulPause #SelfCareMatters #FridayFeeling #Refleciton

Looking forward to the second day of #CIDOC2024. Yesterday’s keynote from David Newbury asked what the future of access to collection information should look like in a data heavy world. In referring to the often siloed disciplines of libraries, archives and museums argued that our constraint is not our expertise but the value of our time. Our disciplines can often misalign our effort to collaborate. Yet our values always align - we value our collections and our stories and must value building new ways of working, build new collaborations and use our data to tell new and interwoven stories. Hear hear. https://lnkd.in/ew23_knr

What is to be a patron today? The evolution of art patronage reflects significant shifts in societal, cultural, and technological dynamics over time. In the 21st century, art patronage exists within a complex landscape heavily influenced by the commercial market and collectors. Traditional institutions like museums face funding challenges and competition from commercial galleries. The advent of digital technology has revolutionized how art is engaged with and funded, introducing new platforms such as online crowdfunding. Corporate sponsorship has also become a significant force in the art world. Modern art patrons must consider the long-term impact of commissioned artworks and engage with a global audience that is diverse and connected. Furthermore, digitalization has significantly impacted traditional patronage models by increasing accessibility and democratizing art engagement. Digital platforms allow patrons to interact directly with artists, participate in the creative process, and support new art forms like AI-generated art.

𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗟𝗜-𝗠𝗔’𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁: 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗶𝘀 💻 LI-MA recently successfully concluded the 𝘊𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘐𝘯𝘧𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘚𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘈𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘋𝘪𝘨𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘈𝘳𝘵 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵, a transformative step in preserving digital art for future generations, built on collaborative case studies with Dutch institutions. Central to this work are collaborative case studies exploring three main themes in digital art preservation: 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗶𝘀, 𝗗𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, and 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲. Beginning with Analysis, we conducted three case studies that underscore the importance of understanding platform-dependent digital art. In collaboration with institutions such as the Centraal Museum, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, and KRC Collection, LI-MA explored case studies on works like 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘍𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘴 by Jan Robert Leegte, 𝘧𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴𝘶𝘱.𝘤𝘰𝘮 by Rafael Rozendaal, and 𝘙𝘶𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘈 𝘊𝘪𝘳𝘤𝘭𝘦 𝘊𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘬𝘸𝘪𝘴𝘦 by Jeroen Jongeleen. These case studies reveal critical strategies for preserving net art, helping protect these works from digital obsolescence. Through collaboration with over a dozen collections, the Collaborative Infrastructure project has laid a foundation for sustainable digital art infrastructure, creating knowledge and tools to preserve these artworks as technology evolves.
