Here at #NZBWN we know that moving to London is a big change, so have put together some of our must-see spots to help you get to know your new home 🏠 This months Must-See Spot is from NZBWN volunteer Tayla Black, recommending the tranquil Richmond area. "You can go for a lovely walk along the river or venture into Richmond Park. It has a nice high street for some shopping and a few different cafes and restaurants to try out!." Richmond Park in itself is a great spot in itself to immerse yourself in nature -- is the largest of the Royal Parks and a haven for wildlife, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone craving a peaceful escape. #Richmond #WelcomeToLondon #ExploreLondon #NZBWN

Today, I did not support the acceleration of the Inglewood Pool closure. Ten members of Council overwhelmingly voted to close the Inglewood Pool in 2021. The last Council and those 10 members are who sealed the fate of the Inglewood Aquatic Facility. The more questions I asked, the more I didn’t agree with the recommendation. There was no indication of imminent building or life safety issues. This decision comes on the heels of last week's closure announcement for Vecova, another devastating blow to our city’s aquatic community. I know Calgarians are hurting, and I'm hearing the same from Inglewood residents – this pool isn’t just a place to swim, it’s a cornerstone of health, recreation, and social connection. It’s part of what makes this neighbourhood special. My career with The City started as a lifeguard at Shouldice Pool, and I had the privilege of working at Inglewood Pool as well. I’ve seen firsthand how these facilities transform lives, promote wellness, and foster the bonds that make a community strong. Because of that experience, I’ve always been a passionate advocate for our aquatic and fitness facilities, and I’ll continue fighting for them. These spaces are more than amenities – they are vital for the mental and physical health of families, single parents, children in swim lessons, and day camps. They are where memories are made, where communities come together, and where Calgarians find the strength and balance to lead healthy lives. As a City, we must prioritize delivering these core services affordably and efficiently. Our communities depend on them, and it’s our responsibility to ensure they remain accessible for generations to come. Next month, during budget deliberations, I’m committed to holding The City accountable for how we spend taxpayer dollars. We must ensure every dollar is invested wisely – in infrastructure, public safety, and services that truly benefit Calgarians. This is about more than numbers; it’s about building a city that delivers for its people. #yyccc #yyc #InglewoodPool #InInglewood

Living in a community estate offers amazing benefits—security, shared amenities, and a tight-knit vibe—but it also comes with its own set of rules. To help you settle in smoothly, we’ve put together a handy guide on some of the most common estate rules you should know. From pet policies and parking restrictions to keeping your property renovations in line with architectural guidelines, this guide covers it all. For example, did you know that some estates limit outdoor structures like pergolas or restrict golf course access for non-golfers? And keep in mind, a new board of trustees might strictly enforce rules that were previously overlooked. Pro tip: Always read the Memorandum of Incorporation or conduct rules before moving in. Missteps can lead to fines—or even resale headaches later on! 📖 READ THE FULL GUIDE: https://ow.ly/k5Ys50TritF #EstateLiving #NewResidents #CommunityLiving #EstateRules #HomeownerTips

When people move into a new area, they make transport decisions and establish new transport habits. Those habits stick. That’s why the old way of developing suburbs of houses with the promise that local community facilities (schools, libraries, etc) and public transport will come later sets us up for ongoing car dependency. We’d never dream of letting housing estates be built without car infrastructure. Why do we allow them to be built without active transport, social, health, and commercial infrastructure?
