🇬🇧Following newcleo’s recent submission of the GDA application in the UK, Andrew Murdoch spoke to the New Civil Engineer about newcleo’s proactive approach to regulation. 📑The interview covers the purpose of GDA, the aim to twin-track newcleo’s SMR regulatory programmes in France and the UK, the process of site-selection and Andrew’s ask of government to provide support and endorsement for developing nuclear projects. 💡He says: “let's not all stop and wait for the perfect conditions, but just start going, and adapt as we go.” Read the full piece here: https://lnkd.in/dDVPjE2x #newcleo #GDA #NuclearRegulation #SMR #NewNuclear
I love this: “Let’s not wait for perfect conditions to take action; but just going, and adapt as we go.” Taking action, learning, and continuously improving the design is undeniably compelling.

Director - Nuclear New Build Projects
1wAndrew Murdoch the GDA is a good step forward and should bring clarity to regulatory direction. Is your team also working to define a common set of standards for the Structures, Systems, and Components for your design? Given the number of SMR designs and potential countries for deployment, I wonder why one of the big engineering entities is not working to create a commercial product that reconciles the various Codes & Standards applicable to nuclear.
