🌟 As we start to close out the year, I wanted to take a moment to highlight the incredible gender diversity metrics we've been able to achieve here at BOSS Energy Consulting, particularly in the clean energy sector. As of 2024, women make up 34% of the clean energy workforce—up from 32% in previous years and significantly higher than the 22% seen across the broader energy sector. However, women still face challenges in technical and leadership roles, with only 29% in STEM-related positions and 15% in senior leadership. At BOSS Energy, we've made a concerted effort to address these gaps. Throughout the years, Ciara Willis (European Lead) and I actively participated in initiatives aimed at empowering women in energy. From co-hosting the Diversifying Green Hydrogen podcast, mentoring through Women In Green Hydrogen, to speaking at London Business School we’ve been working hard to drive change and boost women's confidence in advancing within the clean energy sector. Our results show progress: in 2023, women represented 38% of our global placements, up from just 9% in 2021. As of July 2024, women already accounted for 26% of our placements, with several months left in the year. This figure has likely increased further, indicating an even stronger positive trajectory across the sector. I’m excited to see how much more progress we can achieve as we continue our efforts! Wrapping up a year with the GWNET: Global Women's Network for the Energy Transition. Been an electrifying year (pun intended) of learning everything from the latest technologies and policy innovations that can help accelerate the transition to building a peer network spread across 20 countries and learning from an absolutely fantastic mentor. My primary take away? Not technical but relational. Let me elaborate: - We need the technologies, we need the innovations, and we need them to deliver on the 3 Es - emissions reduction, energy savings, and the eventual energy transition. But ultimately people work with people, and people make and build systems. My most powerful lesson in the last year came with unlocking the power of networks - of experiencing what belonging to a community could do - both personally and professionally. And it is true, the sum is larger than its parts :) - When I first got curious to know more about the current state of the energy sector and the wider transition at play many years ago - I was, more often than not, walking into male dominated rooms with a lot of engineering jargon. It was overwhelming to begin to self learn and occupy space. With this fellowship that was focused on enhancing the role of women as change agents in the energy sector, learning came in many ways. It has been gratifying to see that even with our geographical diversity, there is solidarity to be found in sharing the nature of the challenge and to together, co-create more inclusive spaces that invite folks to unpack different dimensions of the energy transition. If there is one thing to say from this experience, it is that there is space in the ecosystem for everyone, even the best of experts do not have it all figured out. It is not too late to catch up and definitely not too late to ask that 'naive' question - keep asking till it takes everyone back to basics (you'll be surprised at just how few people are really able to do that). The energy transition is much more than an all exclusive club and needs everyone to play a role. And finally, just a quick note on the intersection of #climate/#energy with conversations around equity and justice. No sustainability, net zero goal has any value without addressing the question of who gets to shape these narratives, and more importantly, who gets excluded and why. Many thanks to Christine Lins and Natália Weber for organising a stellar program, and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action

We are still reflecting on the amazing takeaways from The Women in Energy forum. Hosted by ZEN Energy and ElectraNet Pty Ltd, the event was filled with engaging discussions and valuable connections, leaving us with a wealth of insights—too important to keep to ourselves. We are excited to share some key reflections that can inspire further dialogue and innovation: - Phillipa Ou Chen, ZEN's CFO, shared "how exciting it is to see business being done differently at ZEN". She added, "It is not an easy task to be at the front line of helping customers to face price vulnerability in the best way, but we are a disruptive company in the industry." - ElectraNet's Chair Julie Beeby made a great point about "adding diversity to the leadership of companies, going beyond women's leadership." - Nicola McFarlane, COO at the Office of Hydrogen Power South Australia, dove deep into Hydrogen's key role in the state. "SA is at the forefront of using hydrogen in decarbonisation, providing firming service and reliability." - South Australian Chamber of Mines & Energy (SACOME)'s CEO Rebecca Knol mentioned how the state's blackout in 2016 was a wake-up call and "how incredibly lucky we are in Australia with abundant resources for a successful transition". We look forward to building on these insights and driving continued progress together. 🌞 The future is female in solar! It's truly inspiring to witness the increasing number of women stepping into leadership roles across the renewable energy sector. During my recent experience at the Solar & Storage Live Cape Town event, I had the privilege of engaging with talented women driving change in this industry whether they were pioneering new technologies, managing large-scale solar projects, or breaking barriers in technical and leadership positions. ⚡💡 As someone who has navigated a dynamic career journey, from retail and marketing to now contributing at IBC SOLAR South Africa (Pty) Ltd, I’ve seen firsthand the value that diversity brings to the table. 👩🔧👩💼 Women bring unique perspectives, creativity, and resilience, which are critical to solving the global energy challenges we face today. 🌍💪 It's encouraging to see initiatives and companies supporting the growth of female professionals in solar. 🌱 But the work is far from over. To truly reshape the future of energy, we need to continue fostering inclusive environments where women can thrive and lead. I’m excited to be part of this movement and to witness a future where women are not just participants, but innovators and trailblazers in renewable energy. 🚀👩🔬 Let’s keep pushing boundaries, lifting each other up, and proving that the future of energy is not just sustainable it’s diverse and inclusive. 🌞👩🏫 #WomenInEnergy #DiversityInTech #RenewableEnergy #SolarLeadership #WomenInLeadership

We asked the next generation how they envision Switzerland's role and their own role in the future. Their insights? 🇨🇭 Switzerland is seen as a neutral power capable of playing a decisive part in global challenges. On the youth front, some are already committed to building a more renewable and sustainable future, while others feel their age limits their ability to drive change. At foraus, we’re not just reflecting on the past 15 years, we’re shaping the future, where young voices take the lead. 💡 👉 Share your vision and be part of the ideas that will make an impact in the future: https://lnkd.in/eijfDzEy
