Las Vegas's winning streak is over. For the first time this calendar year, Las Vegas did not top the list of the fastest growing large job markets, according to data released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Las Vegas had ranked first among large (1m+) metros in year-over-year job growth (%) every month so far this year, but was unseated by Indianapolis in September, according to BLS. Las Vegas ranked 11th in September. That leaves Indianapolis, Miami, and Sacramento as the only three large metros finishing in the top 10 every month this year. Zooming out to all metros, I don't see one that finished in the top 10 every month, but Charleston came close. Charleston has been in the top 10 since February (it ranked 26th in January). Everyone is building their initial opinion of you as the CEO early in your employment, including people you have worked with for years. Making a good first impression will convey a lot about how you plan to lead differently from the previous CEO and how you have led in other positions, as well as the chance for renewal you envision for the company.

What Got You Here Won’t Get You There Have you seen the episode of Seinfeld where George decides to do the opposite of his instincts—and his life takes a surprising turn for the better? It’s a classic, filled with laughs, but it also holds a powerful lesson: What got you here won’t get you there. Every goal in life comes with its own set of requirements. And often, the habits and skills that brought us success at one stage may not be enough—or even appropriate—for the next. Take weight management, for example. The steps to gain weight are completely different from those required to lose it. This principle applies just as much to our professional lives. Each role in the workplace has its own unique demands. In my pharmacy career, I’ve seen this firsthand: Phenomenal interns struggle as staff pharmacists. Outstanding staff pharmacists struggle when promoted to pharmacy managers. Successful pharmacy managers face frustration when stepping into district roles. Why? Because each level requires new skills or different ways to apply existing ones. It’s the same lesson George Costanza learned—sometimes, to break through challenges and frustrations, we need to think and act differently. So, what about you? Are there areas in your life where “what got you here” isn’t getting you where you want to go? What skills or perspectives could you develop to level up? Take a moment to reflect—and, just maybe, consider doing the opposite. https://lnkd.in/d_ishzRE #ForPharmacy #ForPharmacists #PharmacyLeadership #LeadWell #EveryoneDeservesToBeLedWell #KeepPharmacistsImproving #LeadershipInPharmacy #LeadershipMatters #PharmacistsSupportingPharmacists

🗽 🇺🇸 This week marks 600 days in New York, and I have to say, this city is really starting to grow on me. When I first arrived, the challenges were enormous - both personally and professionally. The past 18 months have been the toughest of my life, taking a real toll on my #mentalhealth. It’s particularly hard when you have to put on a brave face every morning, lead from the front, and keep going, but that’s life. A positive attitude certainly helps with the challenge. I’ve faced significant obstacles, including moving halfway across the world, being punched in the face in Los Angeles and breaking my front teeth, a hospital admission after a freak accident, and my wife going deaf in one ear. Add to that a toddler, a newborn, and a challenging business environment, and it certainly hasn’t been a quiet year. Despite everything, I’ve kept moving forward, doing my best to deliver both at work and at home. Sleepless nights, tough decisions, and countless spinning plates became part of the daily grind as I worked to turn things around. It wasn’t easy, but the unwavering support from my incredible team, family—especially my very, very patient wife Laetitia East, and friends has made all the difference. Fast forward to today: - Our US business is stronger than its ever been, with nearly 100% fee growth YoY. - Our new business pipeline is thriving, off the back of some big wins driven by referrals and incredible PR and Marketing. - We’ve assembled an amazing leadership team in the US, Andrea Ahern, Holland Bent, Justin Zerrenner, Cait Marron and Marcus M. Haynes. - And we’re producing some of the best work in the industry, which I have no doubt will win many awards! To my team, you’ve been incredible, and none of this would be possible without your passion and dedication. Let’s keep pushing forward and build something truly remarkable over the next 12 months. 💪 On top of the professional success, I now have a family of four—and nothing in the world beats spending time with them. This past weekend, riding around Central Park with the boys squealing in joy and me out of breath trying to keep up with my wife, it finally feels like we are settled. New York, New York we’re just getting started! 🚀 #PersonalJourney #NYC #BusinessGrowth #TeamWork #Leadership #InfluencerMarketing #BDB

How I Made Partner: Matthew Carpinello, 34, talks in a new Q&A about his "marathon" at Adler & Stachenfeld LLP in New York. "Mentors are an essential part of your path to partnership, and you should seek one out early in your career," he said. "Remember that the relationship goes both ways. Look for ways to help your mentor succeed (and go above and beyond for them) and they will return the favor later down the road." 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲: https://lnkd.in/gp8jhxvB
