Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, launched on June 22, 2024, is a comprehensive counter-insurgency effort by the Pakistani government to eliminate terrorism and extremism in the country's western regions. The operation aims to destroy terrorist sanctuaries, disrupt networks, eradicate extremism, enhance border security, and stabilize the country. Involving a large-scale deployment of military, paramilitary, and law enforcement forces, the operation has achieved significant successes, including the elimination of terrorist commanders, destruction of hideouts, and restoration of government control. Despite challenges like terrain, asymmetric warfare, and civilian casualties, the operation continues to make progress, with a unified response from civil-military cooperation and intelligence-based operations. #OperationAzmeIstehkam #CounterInsurgency #PakistanSecurity #AntiTerrorism #BorderSecurity #MilitaryOperations #ExtremismElimination #CivilMilitaryCooperation #TerrorismEradication #IBO #WesternRegions #StabilityEfforts #PakArmy #SecurityForces #NationalSecurity

nterterrorism: The erosion of public support undermines the military’s ability to effectively combat terrorism. Public opinion can either bolster or weaken the morale and legitimacy of the military’s actions. If people view the military more as a political actor rather than a national defender, the legitimacy of its counterterrorism efforts can be questioned, potentially leading to reduced cooperation from local populations in affected areas.

Counter Terrorism Policy unveiled All states and Union Territories should have a uniform specialised terror unit with proper strength, they should have a prison monitoring unit, language expert unit, deradicalisation unit, financial intelligence unit, all upgraded weapons recommended by NSG and a standard common training module set by the NSG – these are some of the key points prepared by the Union Home Ministry for the national counter-terrorism policy and strategy. A holistic Counter Terrorism Grid is on the anvil.

USA left Afghanistan in such a mess that can’t see and follow the events over there, forgets that USA fought against Turks and Turkey sponsored jihadis in Afghanistan, and in Syria, including Afghanis fought under Turkish military supervision. Pan-Turkism connections with Central Asian Turkics from Uzbeks to Uyghurs, whom also trained inside Turkey in USA sponsored “Train+Equip” camps whom mostly joined ISIS and Al Nusra after graduation? Is that possible that USA intelligence agencies and NATO intelligence agencies doesn’t know how deep and wide Turkey involved? ISIS-K attacked Roman Catholic Church in Istanbul, like past attacks of ISIS in Turkey, never against Turks? but Kurds and Christian minorities? That’s the game Pan-Turkism and Turco-Islam wants us to see, but in reality it’s the cover up ops to hide Turkey’s sponsorship playing victim? I won’t be surprised if Russia points at Turkey in recent attack, if it’s more important than Russia-Turkey alliance started in anti-Kurdish politics, later signed S-400, and clearing Russian dirty money through Turkish financial system, not just exposed yet as much as Turkey’s involvement with Iran as in the case of #RezaZarrab and #Halkbank As it said “wait and see” 😊

#ISIS-K, the Islamic State group's branch in Afghanistan that has claimed responsibility for the deadly attack on a concert hall near Moscow Friday, "views the entire world as its enemy," and the United States should be watching carefully in the event of an attack on the homeland, defense and counterterrorism analyst John Rossomando said on Newsmax Saturday.

I am excited to share my latest article, "Pakistan's Counterterrorism Strategy: Beyond Azm-e-Istehkam," for the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), a leading defense and security think tank based in the UK. I argued that Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, like its predecessors, is unlikely to bring lasting peace unless Pakistan shifts to a more holistic and integrated strategy. The military alone cannot win this war; true victory requires the backing of socioeconomic development, robust legal frameworks, political unity, and unwavering public support. I delved into how, with the launch of this latest military counterterrorism operation, the country can ensure that it does not repeat past mistakes. It's time for a fresh perspective and a new approach. Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/d5jMahVe. #AzmeIstehkam #Counterterrorism #Pakistan #SecurityStudies #PolicyAnalysis

There are the numerous examples of Israel's actions in Gaza that could be considered state terrorism, such as indiscriminate attacks on civilian infrastructure, the use of starvation as a weapon, and dehumanizing rhetoric by Israeli officials. However, these actions have often been framed as legitimate military responses or counterterrorism measures, rather than being condemned as state-sponsored violence and human rights abuses. This double standard allows states like Israel to engage in such practices with impunity, as they can avoid the serious repercussions that come with being labeled a "terrorist" entity.
