Bad news on #IBD care from our colleagues in the UK.... But, unfortunately, here in Australia, as #IBD does not have a Clinical Care Standard, nor a Clinical Quality Registry, we are unable to see what the overall care quality is like here for people with #IBD.... IBD care is not specifically measured, there are no agreed processes, resource/staffing levels, nor outcome targets - so who knows what is delivered? In the UK "The IBD UK report shows that no IBD service in the UK is meeting current standards for care or staffing. As well as that, the quality of care reported by people living with IBD has declined over the past five years." Whilst here in Australia, we can't measure any of this without voluntary, opt-in, manual audits.... While individual IBD services can be excellent and all try to do their best, is this really enough in 2024 for a disease which affects nearly 1% of the population, with most affected before age 40?
