A few years ago, when I first met my co-founder and our Chief Medical Officer, Dr Ryan Ware it was an interesting encounter because it was the first time that I'd met a practising physician who was focused on functional preventative health and was open to the latest in science from more research in the longevity field, not just another sick-care focused doctor. Our thesis is that as more innovations happen around the longevity space alongside hyper-personalised AI recommendations, it's inevitable that every single consumer gets a personalized AI doctor in your pocket helping you live better for longer. "Aging is indeed a natural process that remains inevitable for now. That’s not to say that we can’t modulate our rate of decline. While I don’t yet see any interventions that are likely to halt aging altogether and extend human lifespan beyond its biological limit, there is still a lot we can do to age well and live longer, within these limits." "We want to move away from over-simplified recommendations like “eat brown rice” and “exercise moderately for 150 minutes a week”, to a much more personalized, actionable plan." SALUS 2024: International Workshop on Citizen-centered health platform for cross-border regions On February 22-23, 2024, the International Workshop on Citizen-centered health platform for cross-border regions (SALUS 2024) took place at the Universidad de Sevilla. The event, promoted by professor Ralf Seepold from HTWG Hochschule Konstanz – Technik, Wirtschaft und Gestaltung and coordinated by professors Juan Antonio Ortega, Ph.D. and María del Carmen Romero Ternero from the Universidad de Sevilla, brought together more than a hundred participants who engaged in various sessions over the two days on-site and on-line, thanks to the local organization formed by professors Andreea M. Oprescu, Betsaida Alexandre Barajas and Gloria Miró. The scientific event SALUS 2024, organized by researchers from the HTWG Konstanz and the University of Seville, aimed to provide a forum for #citizen-#centered #health discussions. Researchers, students, and other stakeholders collaborated to identify issues, opportunities, and solutions related to health in cross-border regions within Europe. #Crossborder regions are defined as areas where social and economic exchanges occur across national borders. However, creating a regionally tailored and citizen-centered solution requires not only technical expertise but also political consensus to establish a framework, promote cooperation, and garner support. Several ongoing research projects related to the topic have been presented, such as Digital Epidemiological Investigation Modeling of 'Infodemic' in Social Media from South Korea (@Hyo-Jung Oh), ARTIFACTS: generAtion of Reliable syntheTIc health data for Federated leArning in seCure daTa Spaces from Spain (María del Carmen Romero Ternero) Morpheus - Invasive - free system for measuring sleep from the Carl-Zeiss-Stiftung in Germany (Ralf Seepold), the ImpuLS-AI future proposal with Colombia entitled "Early and low-cost diagnosis of impulse control disorders in children and adolescents based on automated analysis of language and sleep patterns" (Daniel V.), and the German projects SLaH - At-home sleep laboratory (Maksym Gaiduk) and Smart Home & Living Association Baden-Württemberg, also presenting the BioLAGO e.V. – the health network (Natividad Martínez Madrid). What would happen if we recognized the full implications of the popular, important buzzwords in healthcare? Have a look: 1. Value-Based Care: Value = outcome / cost. If a person heals, subsequent visits for that condition become minimal or zero. Think hypertension, diabetes, and sequelae like strokes, heart attacks, and heart disease. We would have astronomically more value if we helped people heal rather than only treat. 2. Triple Aim: This was a landmark buzzword by IHI that focused on improved patient experience, decreased costs, and improved population health. Since then, this has grown to become the quintuple aim, adding the two aims of quality of clinician work life and advancing health equity. Again, decreasing cost is best achieved not by increasing the efficiency of fundamentally inefficient treatments but rather by healing. Same goes for improving health outcomes. 3. Personalized medicine: The majority of actions that heal do not have to do with personalization from an external source; they have to do with being homo sapien! Nutrition, beginning with eliminating processed foods and eating whole foods, does not require personalized medicine. Hearing what is possible, including case studies of healing, does not require personalized medicine. Moving our bodies with full range of motion, moving and processing emotions, and moving our creativity does not require personalized medicine. Sleep, inquiring into our nature, who we are, and our purpose, does not require personalized medicine. To take another perspective, all of these automatically become personalized when we choose them. Personalization best comes from within rather than without. 4. Interoperability: This is usually used in the sense of different information systems being able to exchange data. It's a good thing, but the more powerful kind of interoperability comes from different healing systems around the world being able to understand each other from a common knowledge base. If we focus on only the data we are used to collecting, we will keep getting the same outcomes with slightly more efficient processes rather than healing itself, which is what people who want help truly want. 5. AI:. I've written much on this; see #AIfromNI. AI can serve in a complementary role, but it is activation of our natural intelligence (NI) via the engines of nutrition, movement, connection, rest, and Mind-Body-Flow Theory that yield maximum healing. Buzzwords help focus our attention, which is good. Unfortunately, they focus our attention based on the fund of knowledge we already know. We must have the courage to assess our fund of knowledge itself and expand beyond the same groupthink, low bar for healing, and limited knowledge to truly realize what these buzzwords suggest and what people want. Healing is possible when we have the courage to question assumptions. Sreesha Sreenivasan #valuebasedcare #vbc #interoperability #tripleaim #quadrupleaim #quintupleaim #ai #personalizedmedicine

That age-old question—would you want to know how you're most likely to die?—is more relevant than ever. Many of us might say yes, hoping that such knowledge could help us avoid or delay the inevitable. But what if that information doesn't come with a solution? Would you still want to know? Should this kind of insight be handed out to individuals, or should it become part of our medical toolkit for discussing preventative health more holistically? We addressed many of these questions at the #CERN #Sparks Forum on the Future of Health, and it seems that they are more relevant than ever today. https://lnkd.in/e-pDYzfR #HealthCare #PreventativeHealth #WellBeing #FutureOfHealth #EthicalQuestions https://lnkd.in/e3BWtrTM

Our research, recently published in npj Digital Medicine, explores the incredible potential of AI-driven digital health interventions to tackle one of the most pressing challenges of our time: metabolic health. 🌟 Why This Is Significant: Rising Metabolic Health Challenges: With diabetes and prediabetes affecting half of the U.S. adult population—and projected to impact half of the global population by 2050—innovative and scalable solutions are urgently needed. Our platform delivers personalized insights that improve glycemic control and promote healthier behaviors for a broader audience. Extensive Real-World Data: Built on over 30 million data points, including CGM readings, wearable data, food logs, and images, our models achieve unparalleled predictive accuracy. This positions us as leaders in delivering personalized, impactful health solutions. 💡 How Our AI Drives Behavior Change: “Digital Twin” Modeling: Earlier versions (V1 and V2) used CGMs and HR monitors to create detailed models of users' metabolic responses. In V3, our app extends these capabilities without requiring a CGM, democratizing access to critical health insights. Actionable Insights & Recommendations: By offering real-time, tailored food, exercise, and timing suggestions, paired with a user-friendly traffic light food categorization system, our platform makes healthier decision-making simpler and more effective. 📈 Scalable AI for Mass Engagement: Our platform is designed to serve millions, blending sensor-based and sensor-free approaches to reach populations previously underserved by traditional CGMs or metabolic health tools. 🌍 Addressing a Global Need: With rising demand for metabolic health solutions fueled by GLP-1 drugs and a global focus on chronic condition prevention, our AI-powered platform is well-positioned to drive the next wave of innovation in health and wellness. This is just the beginning of what’s possible when data, AI, and personalization come together to tackle global health challenges. #DigitalHealth #AI #PersonalizedMedicine #Innovation #Healthcare #MetabolicHealth #FutureOfHealth #CGM #HealthTech #npjDigitalMedicine #prevention

🌟 Personalized Health Series - MedTech for Personalized Health 🏥 As we promised last week, after we announced the two keynote speakers, we keep unveiling, today, the program of the forthcoming workshop. 💥 It is the turn now of the pitching session! We realized, over time, how important offering attendees the opportunity to showcase the projects they are working on is, in particular if one is looking for potential collaborators. The pitching session revealed a huge ice-breaker for the participants, making any possible exchange straightforward and immediate. The session will be introduced by Bram Stieltjes, from the University Hospital Basel and head of PHB. He will briefly provide details of the data warehouse they have built at the hospital, where clinical structured data are stored. This data represents a huge opportunity for whomever may need it to test and improve a medical device, or an AI-based prediction algorithm. Other speakers, in alphabetical order, and their respective presentations are: 📍 Rene Gilvert (OptiChroniX) - "Navigating Cognitive Health: Leveraging Digital Solutions for Improved Care". 📍 Linus Kao, Ph.D, (Skyvormed) - "Incorporating medtech and digital into pharma trials". 📍 Bernard Ludwig, Ph.D., CChem M.R.S.C., (Preciphos) - "Multiplex Analysis of Biological Samples by Means of Biosensor chip-arrays. First Results and Foreseen Applications". 📍 Erik Schkommodau (University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland FHNW) - "Next steps in Surgical Navigation". 📍 Dr. Krisztina Schmitz-Grosz, MBA/ Michael Göttinger, MD (Medgate Group) - "CGM - understand more about your individual health & use it optimal". 📍 Dr. Sanja Tomovska (Quant Biomarkers AG)- "Mission in Precision Health: Awareness for Action". The above list of speakers is pretty diversified, and shows part of the richness of the local MedTech ecosystem, as well as its huge potentials. Some of the speakers already started in the past a collaboration with the data warehouse, others recently launched their activities. All of them are innovation-driven, and have the ultimate goal of improving people's health. We look forward to listening to them! 🔊
