2024 didn’t go as planned. Many goals were left unrealized, but the year wasn’t without its lessons: 🔎 Resilience requires recovery and self-compassion. 🔎 Values may take you off course sometimes. 🔎 Relationships are the foundation of support in both the best and worst of times. Through it all, I’ve been reminded why I’m passionate about supporting female professionals. Helping women achieve what matters to them—personally and professionally—aligns with my mission: to empower women to embrace their self-worth and live into their full potential. I’m ready to leave 2024 behind and look forward to 2025—a fresh start to create, grow, and thrive. Here’s to new beginnings! 🎯 Nothing to really celebrate for 2024... This year broke me in ways I never imagined. 💔 Losing my long-term client—a relationship I had nurtured for years—was a blow I wasn’t prepared for. They closed their business due to financial struggles, and suddenly, I was left wondering, “What now?” Bills were piling up, and uncertainty pushed me into a dark place. I cried myself to sleep some nights, asking God for a breakthrough. 💭 But amidst the pain, I found a glimmer of hope. I couldn’t let my struggles define me. ✨ That’s when I found my purpose: empowering young women to learn digital marketing. As a mom who knows the frustration of juggling motherhood and finances, I realized how many women feel stuck, trying to do it all. I couldn’t just sit there—I had to act. For 2025, my biggest goal is to empower as many women as possible to learn a skill that gives them freedom and confidence. 🙌 Here’s my plan: 💻 Dedicate focused time to my clients and career growth. 🤝 Set aside time to teach young moms and women valuable digital skills—because every woman deserves to stand strong. As the year draws to a close, I find myself more reflective than usual. Perhaps it's the rare quiet moments at this time of the year or the anticipation of the new year ahead. Whatever it is, I completely welcome this opportunity to slow down and take it all in. One of the best things that I did for myself this year was join a book club with amazing professional women. Beyond discussing books, we share insights, wins, or struggles in our businesses, lives, and goals. It is a great support network that I didn't know that I needed. (Thank you Juli Okal for the invite.) Currently, we are reading The Go-Giver by Bob Burg and John David Mann. Have you read it? It is a great book and maybe one that I will read annually going forward. ✅ One of my favorite takeaways is that true success comes when you give more value than you take in payment. As a woman who recently launched my own small business, I’ve been deeply inspired by the incredible community of women over 50 who are also redefining what it means to start fresh. Through local networking groups and international online communities geared toward women in business, I’ve realized that our group is anything but small. In fact, we’re a powerful, thriving network of women who are proving that age is no barrier to ambition, reinvention, or success. For many of us, our 50s are a time of transition. Our children are becoming independent, launching careers, or pursuing post-secondary education, freeing up time to focus on our own dreams. After decades spent in corporate jobs or other demanding careers, we find ourselves standing at a crossroads—and many of us are choosing the road less traveled. Rather than slowing down, we’re harnessing our decades of experience, knowledge, and wisdom to create something new. Whether it’s launching a business, switching to a new career, or diving into a long-held passion, we’re proof that it’s never too late to pursue your goals. Despite our drive and determination, many women over 50 face the same societal biases. We hear whispers (or even outright comments) suggesting that we’re “too old” to start something new. We’re told we’re past our prime or that our voices don’t carry the same weight as they once did. But here’s what I’ve learned: those whispers couldn’t be further from the truth. Women over 50 bring unique strengths to the table. We’re resilient, adaptable, resourceful, and—perhaps most importantly—supportive of one another. In my conversations with fellow women entrepreneurs, there’s a common thread of mutual encouragement. We lift each other up, share advice, and celebrate one another’s successes. What I’ve found most energizing is the sheer joy of diving into new work. Many of us agree that we don’t feel like we’re in our 50s. Instead, we feel invigorated by the chance to shape our own paths and explore opportunities that align with our passions and values. In the 1980s, there was a commercial with the tagline, “Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful.” I’d like to rewrite that for today’s over-50 trailblazers: *Don’t count me out because I’m over 50!* We are vibrant, capable, and ready to make our mark. If you’re a woman over 50 considering a new venture, know that you’re not alone. There’s a vast and welcoming community of like-minded women ready to support you. From in-person networking groups to online forums, the connections you make can be a source of strength, knowledge, and inspiration. Age is not a limitation; it’s an asset. With every year, we’ve gained skills, perspectives, and insights that only enhance our ability to succeed. So, let’s celebrate this stage of life and continue breaking down barriers. The next chapter is ours to write—and it’s going to be extraordinary.
