An incredible honor to address the United Nations General Assembly at the Summit of the Future, under the exceptional leadership of H.E. António Guterres. As we stand at the brink of a transformative era following the historic adoption of the Pact for the Future and the Global Digital Compact (GDC), we are reminded that the real challenge lies in translating these ambitious goals into tangible action. Today marks a monumental moment in our journey. What began as a seed of an idea, whispers of a vision for a world united by digital prosperity, has blossomed into reality. Four years later, here we are, proudly representing the aspirations, efforts, and achievements of our 16 Member States, 800 million people, and dedicated observers. Together, we are fostering global cooperation to harness digital transformation for the greater good. As Secretary-General of the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO), I am deeply committed to driving the transition from digital consumers to producers and innovators. Now is the time to address the digital divide in all its forms whether it's the AI divide, gender digital divide, or skills gap ensuring that no one is left behind. Reflecting on the UN STI Forum, NY - UNHQ: A Path Forward for Global Sustainability The ninth annual Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology, and Innovation for the Sustainable Development Goals (STI Forum) concluded after 3 days of insightful dialogue and collaboration. Convened by ECOSOC President Paula Narváez and co-chaired by Ambassadors Christina Markus Lassen (Denmark) and Inga Rhonda King (Saint Vincent and the Grenadines), the forum featured over 30 sessions, with participation from ECOSOC, the UN Commission on Science and Technology for Development, the UN 10-Member Group of High-Level Representatives, UNCTAD, ITU, UN DESA, Special Envoy for Technology, UNDP and many more UN agencies. The forum brought together representatives from all member states, creating an inclusive platform for conversations between the private sector, technology companies, governments, academia, science communities, and investment banks. Key reflections include: 🔹 **AI for Good:** The forum showcased innovative ways AI can be harnessed to address global challenges, revealing its potential to positively impact healthcare, education, and economic development. 🔹 **Sustainable IT:** Discussions emphasized building environmentally responsible IT systems, ensuring digital solutions minimize their carbon footprint and contribute to a sustainable digital economy. 🔹 **Best Practices for AI and the SDGs:** Practical case studies demonstrated how AI can advance global development goals, setting a benchmark for future projects. 🔹 **UN Digital Compact and the Future Summit:** Discussions laid the groundwork for upcoming frameworks in responsible digital development. 🔹 **Interlinkages between AI and Climate Change:** Experts identified ways to mitigate climate impacts through AI solutions, highlighting the urgency of integrating tech into environmental strategies. 🔹 **Strengthening Government Institutions:** Thought-provoking sessions emphasized how digital transformation can enhance public governance and democratize institutions to better serve the SDGs. The forum has clearly demonstrated the transformative potential of science, technology and AI. Having worked with technology for over 30 years including solutions supporting the SDGs, I'm convinced that leveraging its power will be crucial for achieving the SDGs. The UN Digital Compact initiative and the Future Summit, during Climate Week, will be game-changers alongside the UN AI for Good initiative. We are looking forward to delving into the #GlobalDigitalCompact, which aims to advance an inclusive, universal, and meaningful vision of technology and innovation. In my eyes, a #DigitalFutureForAll looks like this: 1. Envisioning a world where every individual, regardless of age, can share meaningful moments virtually, fostering a sense of closeness and connectivity. 2. Aspiring for a digital library accessible to every child, promoting equitable access to knowledge and fostering a culture of lifelong learning. 3. Envisioning a future where precision agriculture, empowered by digital tools, enables sustainable and efficient farming practices for the benefit of communities worldwide. 4. Striving for a digitally inclusive economy where small businesses can seamlessly engage with global markets, contributing to the prosperity and growth of local economies. 5. Imagining a future where remote medical consultations enhance healthcare accessibility, addressing the needs of underserved communities and promoting well-being.

The United Nations Summit of the Future saw the adoption of the Pact for the Future, including a Global Digital Compact and Declaration on Future Generations. The Pact was adopted by consensus and addresses critical global issues around sustainable development, the #SDGs, and advanced technologies.🌍 But adoption is just the first step. True progress requires inclusivity – all voices must be heard, especially our youth.
