It's airdrop season. And it's interesting to see how different people react. Those who get the tokens praise the ecosystem. And those who didn't get feel scammed. It's amazing how entitled people are. If they spend a year gaming the system in the hopes of gaining an airdrop, they get mad that they didn't get anything. And even people who don't try to game but honestly participate, but just accidentally in ways that are not rewarded, feel cheated. Somehow users are used to airdrops and feel like they deserve one. Grow up. Ask any of the remaining 99,99999% of the world's population whether they get angry that they didn't get free money. Free money with airdrops is a very weird concept that mostly exists around blockchains. Just in case you're not familiar with the concept of an airdrop: it's when a blockchain launches their token and decides to donate some of the tokens to ecosystem participants, for free. The criteria varies, but usually getting an airdrop requires being involved in the community. Many ZK ecosystems/blockchains require their own token for governance - and in the end, to get money. In that sense, ZK blockchains are not any different than non-ZK blockchains. Image credits: Bing Dall-E

Here's my 2024 LinkedIn Rewind, by Coauthor.studio: José Antonio's blockchain project winning first place at the Afirme-Funam awards perfectly captures what 2024 meant to me: technology isn't just code, it's a key that unlocks human potential. This year reinforced my deepest conviction: real innovation happens when we create pathways for talent everywhere - especially for those traditionally left out of the conversation. At UNAM's Computer Engineering Department, we didn't just teach blockchain; we transformed it into a tool for empowerment. Some highlights that made my heart sing: • My master's student José Antonio developed a groundbreaking blockchain system for digital asset traceability, winning top postgraduate honors. His work in #Solana and #Rust wasn't just technically brilliant - it showed how next-generation technologists think beyond traditional boundaries. https://lnkd.in/gj7VqbQC • Hosting 36 teams at the Technovation Girls event reminded me why I do this work. Watching young girls code, innovate, and dream big? That's real technological revolution. "Como cada año acabo con el corazón lleno de esperanza que estamos cambiando el mundo de estas niñas empoderadas." https://lnkd.in/gWAY6cWY • Being honored as "Mujer Inspiración" by Code 4 DEI wasn't just a personal milestone - it was a platform to amplify our collective mission of making tech more inclusive. As a Committee Member for the IEEE Secure Development Conference, I saw firsthand how cybersecurity isn't just about protection - it's about creating ethical, accessible technological ecosystems. https://lnkd.in/gpv_YZPd 2025 isn't just another year. It's an opportunity to scale our impact: expanding blockchain research, deepening mentorship programs, and continuing to build bridges between cutting-edge academia and real-world innovation. To every student who sees beyond the code, every young woman choosing to pursue her technological dreams, and our incredible UNAM engineering community: the future isn't something we wait for. We build it, line by line, breakthrough by breakthrough. ¡Seguimos adelante! 💻🚀 #Blockchain #WomenInSTEM #Cybersecurity #AIethics #EdTech #LinkedInRewind #Coauthor #2024wrapped

🌍 Empowering the Next Generation: Blockchain and AI in Education 🌍 Having had the privilege to participate in the 3rd Anniversary of the Internet Computer (ICP), masterfully organized by DFINITY in Zurich, I realize how exciting and inspiring the blockchain space can actually be. Collaboration is within the DNA of this space and it is reinvigorating to see how multiple actors are ready to get together, pull each other's forces and strengths, and drive the advance of a Web3 future. For this reason, the importance of empowering young people—both from developed and developing regions of the world—cannot indeed be overstated. We not only need to build their agency, equipping them with the tools and knowledge to harness blockchain and AI and apply these technologies for the social good, but we must give them opportunities to enter this greatly collaborative world and make their contribution to revolutionize education through digital innovation. By doing so, they will help us to address some of the most pressing and complex social issues of our time. Blockchain technology offers transparency, security, traceability, and efficiency, while AI provides creative, quality and personalized learning experiences. Imagine the potential if we combine these technologies to tackle challenges like hunger, poverty, crime, corruption and inequality, through a new internet education built to incentivize people from all walks of life to learn real world issues and earn real world skills! ***Stay in touch to learn what the Knowledge Foundation is doing to make all that a reality*** #YouthEmpowerment #Blockchain #AI #Education #SocialImpact #GlobalDevelopment #SDGs #EdTech #KnowledgeToken #InternetComputer #ICP #Web3

Africa’s Late Arrival to the Global Tech Space: A Nigerian Perspective Africa, especially Nigeria, is trailing behind in the global tech race. Recently, a university lecturer in Nigeria couldn’t rejoin an online class because the Zoom participant limit was reached—an issue that underscores how far behind we are, even with basic digital tools. While the world rapidly embraces Web3, blockchain, and AI, many young Nigerians are unaware of these technologies. Computer science graduates often leave school without knowing how to write a single line of code. It's no surprise that most are more concerned with the latest smartphone than with innovative ideas that could drive change. Our environment—government policies, lack of infrastructure, and minimal access to funding—makes it hard for startups to thrive. But the potential is enormous. With the right education overhaul, tech programs, and investment in emerging fields, Nigeria can catch up and even lead. We may have arrived late, but the future is still in our hands. It's time to embrace innovation and create the change we need. Let’s connect and discuss how we can drive Africa forward!
