👉 A lot of people (like 1 in 5 Americans) get their health insurance claims denied. 👉 Most folx don't even know they can appeal or think it's too much of a hassle. 👉 This cool new AI tool called "Fight Health Insurance" is helping people draft appeal letters super quick. 👉 It was created by Holden Karau, who got fed up with insurance denials for her own healthcare needs. 👉 The tool is free and helps people get over that "where do I even start?" hurdle when writing appeals. 👉While it doesn't guarantee success, apparently more than half of denied claims can be overturned if you appeal. 👉 The hope is that if more people start appealing denials easily, insurance companies might think twice before denying claims left and right. #HealthInsurance #InsuranceClaims #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #Healthcare

TANSTAAFL (There Ain’t No Such Thing As A Free Lunch)   The need for quality health insurance is universal. Unfortunately, it can sometimes be taken advantage of. I just read a piece in the WSJ where consumers were lured by the promise of cash while their health insurance was changed to different providers.   Consumers were told they would receive up to $6500 for filling out a form. What actually happened was unsavory salespeople were switching them to a different insurance policy and receiving a commission to do so. Not only were the policies not what consumers expected but some even lost their coverage.   As is almost always the case, there is no such thing as ‘free’. Be wary of anything that sounds too good to be true. Doing business online can be convenient but often lacks accountability.   It’s a pity that there are immoral characters in every industry. In 2010, I wrote a Wall Street Journal column explaining why the proposed Obamacare legislation was unpopular. Looking back, a lot of the voter fears have been realized. However, the most stunning number is the way people rate their own health insurance coverage. Before Obamacare, 76% said their own insurance coverage was good or excellent. Today, just 56% say the same. So, a 20 point drop since Obamacare became law. Despite declining customer satisfaction, insurance companies have become more profitable and valuable because of Obamacare. https://lnkd.in/gsvB4Y2K

A recent WSJ article reveals widespread exploitation in health insurance enrollment, affecting low-income Americans. This news made me feel ill. Key issues: • Misleading social media ads luring vulnerable individuals • Unethical brokers and insurance companies profiting from the situation • Inadequate oversight from government agencies, despite good intentions The greed of these companies and individuals profiting off people in compromised situations is appalling. It extends beyond "brokers" to health insurers who incentivized these behaviors. While CMS likely aimed to help, their lack of controls enabled this exploitation. I hope those taken advantage of have strong support networks to help them recover. As open enrollment approaches, I urge everyone to: - Carefully review all insurance offers - Verify the legitimacy of any 'too good to be true' deals - Seek help from trusted advisors or official government resources This is an opportunity to choose the right health insurance plan. In reality, for people who use health insurance, i.e people who are older than 40, it is probably 3 denied claims per year. With the implementation of the Interoperability Rule functionality, it was hoped that members would sign up to view their health history in a mobile app or web portal. However, from my conversations with various health insurance plans, it seems that this functionality has not taken off as expected. None of the plans I have spoken to have reported any significant number of members using their Interoperability capabilities.
