TRUE - - - It is time, isn't it? TIP: our only point of 'control' is the present. 🕒 If we wait for 'someone else' to take a stand or push back against dishonorable behavior, nothing will change. Over nearly a decade, I've witnessed and experienced what I define as 'Systemic Avoidance of Duty' (SAD) within Management, HR, and Unions. 😔 The truly SAD aspect is that those who perpetuate this toxicity may not realize how much better their work and career experiences could be. It often functions as a trauma response. We should expect and demand more from those entrusted with 'The Public Trust,' especially when they violate that trust. ⚖️ It has to stop. The data supports this. There's no cost savings or financial benefit to maintaining a toxic environment—it merely reinforces undiagnosed narcissism or sociopathy among those in power, who pretend to be 'doing their job' when they are not. 🚫 Transforming toxic operations into healthy environments is always a win:win. The problem is, those guilty are afraid of being exposed. From a POTU perspective, demanding punitive measures only perpetuates 'Structural Violence'. We need to make it safe for change to happen. The problem with SAD is that it's all about using 'force' and abusing 'power', rather than stewarding power to create a non-toxic environment. 💪 When refusal to end toxicity persists, external oversight and litigation become necessary for positive change, which should be unnecessary among fair-minded and reasonable people. If policy and justice fail, depending on the severity of the harm caused, human beings eventually rebel when they lose faith in the systems supposedly preventing SAD. 🔥 We enjoy fictions like 'The Punisher' and 'The Equalizer' because they address unchecked corruption that leads to toxic, and eventually criminal, activities. Such corruption evolves when we fail to challenge SAD in our lives, work, and careers. Being a business owner, for example, does not grant the right to be abusive. 👊 We have a lot of work to do. It begins by each of us taking personal responsibility to expose, challenge, and say 'no' to SAD when it shows up. It also involves documenting events in support of those targeted and being an honorable 'witness' to those who dare to stand against it. 🛡️ Too many people are waiting for 'someone else' to act, while merely complaining. That does not work. 💬 - POTU David 💖 Love/Like, 🔁 Repost/Share, 💬 Comment with your thoughts, share. Our world needs to learn how to live the principles it already knows. #potudavid #howtothinkpotu #management #HR #unions #sadmanagement #sadhr #sadunions

#Gukesh triggers an 'Indian Tsunami' in #Chess "It's not everyday that you become the world champion. It's definitely not everyday that you become the youngest world champion in history, as Gukesh has after prevailing over Ding Liren in a 14-game World Chess Championship match in Singapore. In fact, the succession line of world chess champions which started in 1886 and has seen 17 men ascend to the throne - has never seen a teenager...." It's just one of those magical sentences by Amit Kamath in the colums of The Indian Express which have kept the scintillating chess journey of D. Gukesh alive for readers like me. More importantly, such reportage have kept the chess-iness below the subconscious depths of Indian psyche alive. Henry Kissinger wrote in his famous book "On China" how unlike the Chinese game of Weiqi which is about strategic encirclement, the 6th century Indian or for some even Western game of Chess is about victory or defeat. Well, as the D. Gukesh-Ding Liren saga unfolded over past 14-odd matches over 20-odd days, we saw how much of chess is about either of it. You win or draw matches, but the encirclement goes on through the entire duration of the tournament. And, in the biggest of the games of chess among the mightiest of the players, one mistake is all it takes for an impending draw to turn into an unavoidable checkmate and win for the other side. Kasparov termed the ongoing era of Indian chess prodigies as the "Indian earthquake in chess". Well the very humble D. Gukesh just triggered a Tsunami. Note: One of those beautiful coincidences also happens to be that at least in Hindi/Sanskrit Gukesh happens to be one of the names of Shiva - the ultimately peaceful god of destruction and regeneration.
My koti Koti Pranam to Gukesh parents for such Sanskar. Gukesh rearranges all the pieces back on the chessboard, and then does Pranam to the board, gestures gratitude before rising to celebrate his win.
