I got 27th place/ 1946 and won a silver medal in a kaggle competition!!! This competition on Kaggle invited participants to forecast the efficacy of potential new medicines. This competition aimed to accelerate drug discovery by enabling more precise predictions of drug outcomes based on chemical data. For our solution, we prepared 2 models, one for which the structure of the molecule is shared in the training set, and another for molecules with unseen structures. For the shared data, we enhanced accuracy by using a 1D CNN that treats SMILES as strings, incorporating residual connections and attention mechanisms. we used ChemBERTa, capable of transfer learning, and preserved generalization performance by freezing the first three layers during training to retain information from pre-trained molecules. This competition had a huge gap in molecular structure between the Public and Private leaderboards, making it a very "shaky" competition. Despite this, our team managed to create a highly robust model, achieved 8th on the Public and 27th on the private as well. Here is our solution. Any comments or questions are welcome! https://lnkd.in/gjhM5yBj

✨ It was a pleasure to hear Miki Giffin summarize her recaps from SOT 2024, as well as others takeaways and thoughts at the April Biocompatibility Coffee Break. Thank you for sharing! In short from the discussion: ✅ Medical device poster session were well attended, even more people than previous years ✅ Use of AI for TRAs were discussed in presentation and in a poster. AI can be a great tool in the future if used properly. ✅ If you work with absorbable/degradable devices, a tricky group of devices to test, look at the quite new ISO 37137:2021 for guidance ✅ Identifications confidence in chemical characterization – can be impacted by sample preparation, databases and laboratory methods ✅ Interesting Round Robin study highlighted issues with reproducibility between laboratories for chemical testing. ✅ There are some confusions in the use of scaling factor in part 17 and also how to use TSL for specific compounds and patient groups ✅ Comparison between in vitro and in vivo results for skin irritation presented by FDA. ✅ James Morrison gave a tip that David Saylor and Joshua Yong from US FDA, CDRH,OSEL Regulatory Science regular have meetings where they share information about their work within chemical testing. We have attended several meetings with interesting discussions and can recommend you to register. ✅ Several of the participants kindly offered to share their posters from SOT2024 if you send them an email. Please add the topic in a comment to this post if you are one of them who are happy to share yours. Next SOT meeting will be in Orlanda, FL, USA, March 16-20, 2025. The deadline for session proposals sent to MDCPSS is May 1. To everyone who got stuck in the lobby, we're really sorry we couldn't let more people in. It seems we reached a limit on the number of people, which we have not experienced before even with more participants. We are looking into this to get it fixed before the next session in May. 👋 Registration for Biocompatibility Insights 2024, Copenhagen, Denmark during October 15 (training day) and October 16-17 main conference days is now open. Hope to see you! Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria (PNH) diagnostics and monitoring on ESCCA 2024
Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria (PNH) diagnostics and monitoring on ESCCA 2024: Thirdly, we bring you information about a very interesting poster from the ESCCA 2024 conference - Harmonization of Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria Testing and Analysis on the Sysmex XF-1600 Flow Cytometer (Liam Whitby et al., UK NEQAS for Leucocyte Immunophenotyping, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, Sheffield, UK) For full text of the poster, please contact directly Clare Weir (Assistant Director / Team Lead, Application Support and Scientific Marketing, Symex Europe): Weir.Clare@sysmex-europe.co "The goal was to see if cloning instrument settings for the PNH protocol worked across international sites, and this was proven to be successful. However, the sites did not perform identical testing of the protocol which is shown in the results. The next phase of the study would be to ensure multinational sites adhere to guidelines for acquisition and analysis of PNH samples", says Clare Weir. www.exbio.cz DryFlowEx PNH High-Sensitivity Assay Kit (CE IVD) https://lnkd.in/eksy3Aae #EXBIO #PNH #diagnostics #flowcytometry #cytometry #ESCCA

Important milestone for our company as we announced early completion of enrollment in LunAIRo, Apnimed’s Phase 3 #OSA #clinicaltrial examining the efficacy and safety of AD109 compared to placebo at six-months and one-year. We believe AD109 has the potential to be the first nighttime oral pharmacologic treatment for people with obstructive #sleepapnea who are either intolerant of, or refuse to use, positive airway pressure therapy. We want to thank the patients who volunteered to participate in this study, extend our gratitude to the investigators for their support and give a shout out to our amazing clinical and medical colleagues who made this important step possible. Topline data expected mid-2025. Learn more about the study design and its presentation at #ATS2024: https://bit.ly/4draxhP #biotech #innovation
